We were in a two storey lodge, no. 4, a Birch Executive. This lodge was fabulous, 2 spacious bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Complimentary bread, milk and some tea/coffee sachets were left for us. No WiFi and hard to get a phone signal but there were two TV’s which were very good and the hot tub was amazing and very well used by us and our children. They supply towels which were nice quality and there is also a drier in the kitchen so no wet towels hanging about.

Furnishings and paintwork and cleaning let it down. Hope to stay again

Our Birch Lodge was a very good size for our party (2 adults & 2 kids). Plenty of space in dining / sitting area. Decent size kitchen adjoining that area. Also toilet / shower room accessed off the kitchen area. Upstairs there was a very big double bedroom with ensuite (bath & toilet) and a decent size twin room, plus another communal bathroom (toilet & bath). Also upstairs the was a very big outside veranda / balcony with a couple of chairs and table. Great over hanging roof, so well protected from the elements. On the ground level there was a veranda area with table and four chairs and a hot tub. All of the above made the accommodation very good. However, there were a number of issues (in the main all relatively small) that we highlighted to the site staff. Details below: * Double bedroom en-suite smelt damp. * No plug in sink (en-suite). * Microwave plate did not fit micro was - Unable to turn and affected cooking. * Integrated fridge / freezer was not working - A free standing fridge / freezer placed in corned of sitting area. * lighting in dining / sitting area not bright enough * Tap of sink in shower room was staff and hard to control flow of water ( big problem for kids). *Draining area at kitchen sink did not drain properly - Unhygienic. * excessive number of flies around hot tub - May have been linked to excessive foliage. *Ground level decking area was worn in some places. * Table / chairs on ground level decking area were too big for the space - Awkward getting in and out. Also two slats missing from seat of one of the chairs. * Both the lower and upper veranda levels had not been cleaned properly - A lot of cobwebs visible

Extremely comfortable lodge with great facilities. We visited when it was hot weather and as the lodge is wooden it was rather unbearable at times to be indoors due to the heat as the lodge became stifling. I’m not sure if the site can provide fans as we didn’t ask, we took our own. I do feel that fans could be provided to help in high season when temperatures are high. The hot tub was beautiful and was checked every morning by staff. Overall, the lodge was a beauty and we would absolutely recommend.

The Lodge itself (No.4) was clean and spacious, but there was no TV reception and phone reception was poor. The hot tub was lovely but the cover which was supposed to be put back after every use, did not fit and weighed a ton. There was an awful smell coming from the ensuite bathroom which made it impossible to use as we had to keep the door shut at all times, but there were other bathrooms so this didn't cause us a problem. It would have been handy to have a shower hose as an option in one of the bathrooms upstairs as well as the bath, as the only shower was downstairs and you couldn't wash your hair if you wanted a bath. A cleaning pack was there for us on arrival which was a nice touch but it would have been handy to have instructions left for the oven, etc. The plate and turning wheels in the microwave did not fit so couldn't use it. To summarise, improvements definitely could be made but none of the negatives spoiled our stay and for the four nights we were there, it wasn't a big deal. All in all we had a lovely break and the weather was glorious.

An excellent lodge let down only slightly by the standard of cleanliness
