Great lodge, no complaints at all.

After picking up our keys and unpacking our belongings a member of staff advised us we had been given the wrong keys. Instead of giving us the correct keys for the lodge next door we had to put our belongings back in the car & pick them up from reception. Didn’t receive a proper apology. Considering the park had been closed for several months would have expected minor repairs to have been done. The facia boards on the kitchen units weren’t fixed and would fall down all the time the window catch was faulty and the gate didn’t shut properly. Have been previously but was disappointed on this occasion

Decent break Lodge could of done with a good clean cobwebs all over outside and table mucky. Also take fly spray as not provided and full of midges in day time. I would also take a frying pan as there’s the food stuck to even with oil.

We had a lovely stay at Dacre lakeside park in a 3 bedroom pet friendly lodge, number 12. The lodge was a good quality and all facilities were to a good standard, the bathrooms in particular were very nice. This lodge is not overlooking a lake and is set against a banking with lots of trees / bushes. The downside was there is a LOT of insects and unfortunately our lodge didn’t have any insect screens at the windows (our friends lodge did). It was a warm week which meant the windows to all rooms had to be open but the amount of insects coming in made this uncomfortable. Whilst sitting outside we had citronella candles and this seemed to work. At one point when I swept the floor I counted 30 midgie type flies. If I returned in the summer I would take an electronic insect plug in like I normally take abroad or a fly lamp like we take camping. Bert’s is the on-site restaurant which is great, we had takeaway once, coffees / lunch and a sit in meal. Food and drinks very good although it was a bit pricy. We played pitch and put and the kids used the pedalos, we found the facilities to be really good. Brandleburton is the village you can walk to, limited facilities there but the bakers/deli was nice as was the fish and chip shop. Beverley was a nice day out, and is around 10 mins away, it has a lovely market on a Saturday and a large Tesco for supplies. The park is also close to Hornsea for the beach. We had a lovely break and would return again.

The lodge was very spacious and roomy but lacked some maintenance (there were lots of dead old spiders nests on the external ceiling which made my wife nervous, the patio door did not fully open as it jammed on the floor and the oven control numbers had worn off), these issues did not spoil our stay as they were very minor. The showers were both powerful and the king size bed was of good quality and comfortable. The tv was large and new. It was also nice to have robes and slippers supplied. If I were to return I would take some condiments such as salt, pepper, oil etc as the cupboards are left clean after each let. I would also recommend fly spray as there are quite a lot of midges from the lake.
