Upon arriving to the reception I was greeted by a lady who called me into her tiny 'reception' (shed) and towered over me as I filled in the paperwork which made me feel very uncomfortable from the get go considering the current pandemic and social distancing guidelines. When we walked into our lodge, we were greeted by an awful damp/rotten vegetable smell and the whole lodge felt dirty. I went around the lodge with cleaning wipes, which luckily I had brought with me, and the colour of the wipes were disgusting, considering we're in a pandemic and cleaning should be top priority, I was disgusted. I went to wash my hands and the handle of the tap fell off in my hands so I went to explain the situation to the lady who had checked us in 10 minutes prior- she told me that there was no way a plumber would be able to be out over the weekend to fix the tap (I didn't ask for this) and told me it was ok as we had another bathroom to use and offered me air freshener for the smell, no offer to come and find the source, so I assume she already knew about it. Myself and my partner felt it wasn't a place we wanted to be staying at all and within half an hour of arriving, had booked to go elsewhere. We were supposed to be staying for 7 nights, but arrived the Friday, endured the Saturday and Sunday and left the Monday to go elsewhere. It was such a shame as the photos that I had seen of the lodges prior look nothing like the lodge we walked in to and we booked to go away for our 10 year anniversary and it didn't feel special at all whilst we were there.

We didnt get the washer and dryer that we were promised, but we got an extra bedroom which was good. overall very nice place, we would definitely go back and stay again.

The location of this lodge was beautiful, the lake in the middle and the baby trees around the lake made it look very picturesque. Unfortunately the lodge was a let down, there was a lot of problems with it. For starters there was no wi-fi and needing to book almost everything on line due to covid 19 made it impossible to plan days out. The furnishings and fixtures were a let down, there was only one oven tray making it difficult to cook food for a family of 4, the baking trays were tiny, there was no instruction manual for use of the microwave, there was the bare minimum of cutlery meaning we had to keep washing up during cooking to be able to use them for different things. The dining table was quite small and the lights above it hung down so low that my husband and I kept bashing our head on them. The lights in the kitchen above the sink did not work so we were washing up in low light from the ceiling lights. Tried to use the dryer we followed the instructions and it still wouldn't work. There was no coat rack to hang up our coats when we came back from being out, the fire pit in the middle of the balcony furniture had no gas bottle so we could use it. The remote control in the master bedroom had no batteries in it and when we tried our own batteries it still didn't work on the tv. The master bedroom shower head was broken would not stay up properly and the mattresses on the beds were sprung mattresses which were very uncomfortable to sleep on and the last thing was when we arrived each bathroom had barely half a toilet roll in them, I have never stayed in a lodge that didn't provide a full weeks worth of toilet paper. These are self catering lodges so they need to be kitted out properly within reason like a family is living there for the week.

A lovely lodge, nicely spaced from the other lodges. Very well kept grounds. A lovely chilled holiday.

Lodge was immaculate. Hot tub just outside the door of the lodge. Very private too.

Definitely value for money, would definitely recommend staying here for a nice getaway. Lovely surroundings and enough car parking space to fit a few cars.

Visited Colliery Lane Lodges. Entrance to the site is not CLEAR. Finally getting onto the site, greeted by a lady who took us into the marquee, no masks were worn by anyone inside. In the current climate I found this is unusual. After filling paperwork out, she guided us to our lodge. We walked into our lodge to find flies everywhere! Under equipped cutlery and crockery which was dirty. Limescale in the kettle (so bad that the limescale was floating in your drink)! Dirty forehead marks on the windows. Shower door in en-suite does not close properly which leaks onto the floor. After pointing out these issues to the lady who checked us in, she gave us ‘Raid’ fly spray and fly paper strips and 4 dish washer tablets. Then told us she would be around the following day with limescale remover. We also asked for a sweeping brush and her reply was “You are on holiday; you shouldn’t be cleaning!” After a gentle reminder to her the following day, she gave me some professional BATHROOM limescale remover to descale the kettle ourselves! We did not use this product as we felt it was unsuitable and looked like it had been in the shed for 14 years! Exceedingly disappointed the lodge should be cleaned more thoroughly than even, during the current pandemic. During our stay, a had few more issue: Hairs on the bedding and pillows, the double bed was extremely uncomfortable in fact we were unable to sleep. Moving the coffee table to do a puzzle, to find a mini cheddar under there. A chocolate biscuit under a radiator, a hula hoop under the sofa! Never mind the eyelash that was found swimming in the hot tub! The photos of the lodge show a charcoal BBQ, there was not. Its gas BBQ with additional charges for gas with cigarette ends in! With the small amount of crockery and cutlery meant the dishwasher was on often but not even half full so 4 dish washer tablets did not go far! Could not find any gas safety information on the boiler or around the lodge. When checked in, we were instructed about a noise level to be quiet at 22:30. With the marquee still lit and bar still being open after 23:00 with more people in there than there was on site! When it came to leaving, nobody was around to discuss our stay. We are extremely disappointed, the photos of the lodges we saw prior to booking look nothing like the lodge we walked in to and it did not feel special at all during our stay! Unclean and poorly equipped for a self-catering stay. Myself and my family have booked lodges through Hoseasons on many occasions, this park is not the usual standard and requires Covid 19 measures putting in place for the safety of the staff and guests.
