We spent a week at Glendale Cottage with our two daughters. The cottage was great - plenty of space for the four of us and the kids loved having the private garden to run around in. It was very homely and nicely decorated and the kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed. Julie and Philip were very helpful in giving us suggestions of things to do in the local area and provided us with a fire pit to enjoy on our last evening there. Being able to book sole use of the indoor pool was a real bonus too. We would definitely recommend it.
Would definitely book again, owners lovely, very accommodating. Very well equipped cottage. Highly recommended.
Me & my kids & my parents booked both cottages, We had the large 3 bedroomed cottage (me, my partner and 4 kids- 3 teens and 7 year old) we also took our little dog, it had 2 bathrooms. Living room, dining room, kitchen and entry which was immaculate, beautiful inside, very spacious and everything we possibly needed, including WIFI which kept the teens happy, the views all around are amazing and the silence was perfect, the garden is huge with regular visits from cows which my youngest daughter (7) absolutely loved, seating areas with fire pit which we took advantage of with marshmallows yum, My parents had the smaller cottage, it has 1 bedroom bathroom, kitchen/diner and conservatory again immaculate, equipt with everything they needed and very cosy, lovely garden leading on from the conservatory, There is sufficient parking available right outside the cottages and with it being off the road very safe, with no traffic noise, we also booked the private swimming pool which is on the grounds for an hour each day that was absolutely perfect we had so much fun, it's a really good size has both shallow end plus deep end, pool was heated, separate changing area with toilet and shower cubicles, very clean, couldn't ask for better, so much to do on site without leaving, we chose to do home cooked meals but u can get food deliveries direct to cottage, takeaways or there is restaurants close by. The owners live on the grounds, The most lovely couple nothing was too much trouble, We can't wait to go back especially for the new addition of Hot tubs, I could not recommend Glendale cottages enough We had the most fabulous week perfect break from busy lives.
This is a little gem. A very comfortable cottage with large screen TV and all the necessary creature comforts has been given an extra dimension with the addition of a fantastic hot tub in the garden, perfectly situated to allow you to appreciate the beautiful Northumbrian countryside. Hosts Julie and Phillip could not be more welcoming but are never in your face and then, of course, there is the lovely indoor, heated pool which can be rented by the hour for private use at a very reasonable rate. On top of that, it could hardly be closer to Hadrian's Wall in one of the most beautiful and under-populated parts of the country. Ten out of ten all the way.
Lovely relaxing break in beautiful scenery
Fantastic! Absolutely loved our stay and will definitely be back!
We had a lovely week at Glendale Cottage. The 3 bedroomed bungalow style cottage is beautifully set out with 1 Double Room, 2 twin rooms. There are a few steps between the living areas and the bedrooms. The cottage has 2 bathrooms. A large main Bathroom with Shower over the Bath and an en-suite from one of the twin bedrooms with a Walk in Shower. There is plenty of car parking space outside the cottage. We were very pleasantly surprised how large the cottage was and how lovely it was set up for our arrival, thank you. The cottage itself has all you need for self-catering including a large fridge/freezer. We opted to eat out for our main meal each day but we did use the kitchen for breakfast and lunches and made use of the lovely dishwasher. We used the pool at Glendale Leisure during our stay, this is at extra charge. You need to book this separately. Julie contacted us prior to our visit with availability. I would suggest that you book this in advance to get a choice of 1 hour slot as the pool books up quickly. The pool was a lovely temperature for a swim, not too hot or cold and you get private use of the pool for an hour. When we booked Glendale Cottage, we didn’t realise that there was a “Hot Tub” in the garden and we used this every day during our visit, the view from the hot tub is spectacular. The Hot Tub made us feel pampered, Philip gave us a demonstration on how to use were given to us when we first arrived at the cottage. Instructions on how to use the Hot Tub safely had been left on the kitchen table. We so enjoyed the cows in the next field coming to the garden wall so we could watch them whilst we soaked. The only negative is that it is a little drive away from the Pubs and Restaurants and Takeaways in Haltwhistle. However, this did not bother us as eat whilst we were out before returning to the cottage in an evening for nice relax. All in all, this is a little piece of heaven in a lovely country cottage. We really enjoyed our week on holiday and would recommend Glendale to anyone wanting some peace quiet in Northumberland. We will be returning to this quiet haven as soon as possible.
This is the perfect cottage for a family break. All the essentials are provided like a dishwasher and washer drier, large family bathroom and an additional en-suite with shower adjoining the twin bedroom. Lovely private garden, perfect for camp fires, marshmallows & stargazing. The kids loved the amazing pool & pool toys, as well as the private hot tub. The country side is absolutely stunning & our children were delighted by the cattle in the ajoining field. We prebooked supermarket food delivery & cooked most nights. 5 minutes drive from Haltwhistle for provisions and takeaways & had a nice meal at the Twice Brewed Inn. Perfect geographically for exploring the north with Cumbria, the lakes & the rest of Northumberland all within easy travelling distance. Highly recommend.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the area is amazing, lots of lovely walks, swimming was a real bonus. Phil and Julie very accommodating. We will be back.
A lovely holiday. The swimming pool was good. The spa was amazing. The owners are excellent friendly and very helpful. My Daughter & I loved the stay, my Son Daughter in law & Grandsons loved it using the swimming pool, spa, using the zip line & making a tipi in the forest all amazing fun & outdoor activities. I would highly recommend the venue.
I have stayed in both of the cottages at Glendale and they are lovely. The views from the cottage are spectacular I was lucky to watch an owl swooping across the fields at twilight followed by a plethora of stars due to the dark skies. From the cottage there are many places to visit including Roman forts, Lanercost Priory and the pottery at Bardon Mill. The owners live next to the cottage and are very friendly . I have already booked for next year!
