Cupboards crumbs, toast bits everywhere inside. Skirting boards filthy. As it was self catering, only 3 spoons, there were 4 of us. Not enough crockery, no jug, little tea pot, no bowel. This is self catering luxury? No ironing board or iron. Pillows had stains on them, not luxury or quality at all. I left my underwear etc in the suitcase as did not feel i could put it in the draw. No information pack about hot tub or anything in the area what to do where to eat, doctors, dentist etc. Very poor. Will not visit again, as this is not luxury at all.
Accepted that some things couldn't be provided due to covid but could have done with another towel each so we didn't have to use the same one for showering and drying after being in the hot tub. Everything else was great.
Very enjoyable break away, a lovely lodge, a few items missing that would make it slightly better, such as a small table in the loving room to put drinks on, and a stool for the bedroom, however on mentioning this to the grounds keeper Tony he did bring us a stool. He was very friendly and helpful. We had a small problem on the first morning and he was there immediately and resolved it quickly for us. Very nicely decorated and styled lodge, only down side is the hot tub location which is at the back, so you have to come out of the lodge, down the side and to the back under the trees. All others are on the balcony however this one is bigger so can see why it is in that placement. Very quiet location, easy access to a range of places and good amenities not too far away. Would definitely recommend and return, however Tony did mention they are expanding the site, which I worry will take away some of the charm, part of the appeal of it is how small and quiet it is.
No complaints from us
Lovely location & lodges
In Lodge No1 our boiler stopped working several times before breaking down completely. Beds in this lodge were uncomfortable and there was a broken Roman Blind. Because of the boiler problem we had to move to lodge No2. In Lodge No2 there were two broken Roman Blinds, and a broken oven door. The range of cooking utensils was poor and we had to borrow items from Lodge No1.
The lodge was filthy. Dead flies everywhere especially on the high window ledge. It was dusty and the skirtings were dirty. Window blinds were broken. The shower hose was taped. The oven door just fell to the ground, nearly injuring my husband's foot. There was a rip in the kitchen lino. There was a broken piece of towel holder so nowhere to hang your towel. The beds were too soft. The maintenance man said the cleaner hadn't turned up that morning but it was obvious that it hadn't been cleaned properly for a long time. For the lodge to be advertised as 'five star luxury ' you would expect a real attention to detail. It was extremely disappointing. The only saving grace was the peaceful countryside location. However, on our last night there was another lodge playing music very loud and the maintenance man never dealt with it. It states in the booklet supplied 'keep noise at a respectable level'. My husband had to ask them to turn it down. It could and should be absolutely sensational at this lodge if it was maintained appropriately.
Overall the place is nice and quiet however cleanliness is not up to high/luxurious standards therefore our overall experience is not great especially for the money we have paid.Cobwebs, dead flies not properly cleaned shower broken/not properly fitted drawers lack of dish washing liquid or drying rack. Only two small folding garden chairs on the deck ( in 4 people lodge) also missing table, cutlery only for 4 people( nothing spare)and lack of privacy, very uncomfortable beds and so on. Hot tub is located on back of the lodge where from one side is an entrance gate and on another neighbour lodge and their porch. It should have some sort of fence to give at least felling of privacy. Furthermore above the hot tub there is a wasps nest. Children were afraid of them and it didn't look safe. The lodge door are not closing properly. In general peaceful but not luxurious place at all. We won't be staying again and general we are disappointed.
Unfortunately I would not recommend this lodge. Not milk, coffee or sugar supplied. Had to bring our own towels, and the beds are so uncomfortable. Lots of spiders supplied in the price.
