Reviews

A very comfortable and peaceful cottage, I will definitely book again.

A wonderful location and homely feel in this cottage made for a perfect relaxing break. Thank you.

The cottage was just perfect for a relaxing get-away-from-it-all break.

Great views, fantastic hot tub and a lovely converted stable, it was so relaxing and lovely. It was brill.

A perfect hideaway in a pretty and well-appointed cottage. The wood burning stove and hot tub added an extra sense of luxury and relaxation. We were happy to have an internet-free week away and enjoyed the seclusion. Location was great for walking and the OS map on the wall was helpful (we were able to snap some shots on our phones and navigate our way to The Pack Horse Inn!). Owners and neighbours very kind when we got stuck in the snow on change-over day and helped us out with shovels, grit and coffee. We hope to come back and visit again.

We wanted a quiet week just the two of us and this cottage was perfect. It snowed the first night we were there and despite the freezing temperatures the hot tub was perfect. We went in every night and I even saw my first shooting star! We weren't disturbed at all the entire week, even though I know the owners were easily contactable. Hebden Bridge isn't far away for supplies, we stayed in the cottage most nights though as it really did have everything we needed. Wouldn't hesitate in coming back.

The cottage was in a superb rural location, with excellent facilities. We would definitely love to come again.

The views, the people so friendly, went for loads of walks and bike rides. The cottage was really homely, the inside was so beautiful what you would expect a cottage to look like.

Fantastic spot and fantastic owners. A really nice place to spend the weekend and the hot tub makes it.

The hot tub and log fire, even at the time we stayed in December, the hot tub was relaxing.

It was certainly one of the friendliest, best situated, best furnished and cleanest houses we have stayed in and it's in a lovely part of the country.

We liked the peace and quiet and the hot tub!

Where do I start..PERFECT!

This cottage was ideal for our break and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to get away from it all. The hot tub was fabulous and we used it each day, the wood burner was a great asset. There are lots and lots of walks in the area, many starting from the cottage. Many places of interest are within a short distance also.

Fabulous cottage.

The perfect cottage in a great location with very good transport links. Peace and tranquillity with the option of a livelier Hebden Bridge a short walk away.

Lovely cosy cottage, well presented king size bed...so comfortable slept like babies! Loved the log burner and had no problem getting it to light. The icing on the cake had to be the hot-tub, just fantastic even in the freezing temperatures.

Lovely place to stay - home made cake on arrival and fresh tulips made for a great welcome. The owners were friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Hot tub is great to relax in after walks in the day. Beautiful views and the area has good choices of dog friendly pubs close by. Plenty of walks from the doorstep, lots of other places within short drive - Hardcastle Crags is fantastic. Would definitely stay at Pack Horse Stables again, and would love to visit the area again.

This property was the best we have stayed in 🙂 a real couples retreat in the middle of the wilderness! Fantastic under floor heating, very clean and cosy. The hot tub was the cherry on the cake for us- spectacular views of the countryside from the bubbly waters whilst surrounded by snow!!! Would recommend to anyone and we are going to book again!!!

Beautiful cottage in a lovely area

Very welcoming owners quiet location. All it was advertised to be and more. Would visit again definitely, hot tub was great

Enjoyed every aspect! The cottage was superb in every way, the location brilliant, the views fantastic and the hot tub was the icing on the cake. We will be going back!

A beautiful cottage in fantastic surroundings! Very well equipped with lovely decor. Log burner and hot tub a real treat after a long walk!

The hot tub was relaxing after a day out walking in the beautiful surroundings.

The cottage was of an exceptional standard, very clean and nicely furnished. The location was ideal and the hot-tub a bonus!

The quality of the accommodation, furnishings, and amenities was absolutely outstanding!!! The location was fantastic with lovely views and easy access to walks. We can't recommend Packhorse Stables highly enough!!!

This beautiful converted stable is just perfect to unwind in and enjoy country walks, peace, quiet and relaxation. The hot tub is so relaxing, there is nothing better than it snowing outside and sitting in the tub with a glass of wine! We would highly recommend and will be back very soon.

One of the nicest holiday homes we have stayed in - and it really did feel like a home immediately. Particularly well placed and suited for walkers with dogs. We had a superb week and hope to return sometime to explore some more and then to relax aching muscles looking at the views from the fabulous hot tub. Thank you.

The standard of decor, furnishings and cleanliness of the cottage was superb. The hot tub was regularly serviced and always available. The location of the cottage was ideal for a walking holiday. The cottage was very well designed for two people.

It was just lovely. The owners were very friendly. The cottage and the area was perfect. There are excellent walks straight from the door in fact you really don't need to use your car at all . We will definitely return.

The level of thoughtfulness that had gone into its decor and into making us feel welcome. It did not feel like a holiday cottage, it felt like a home and we felt at home immediately. Owner was friendly but not intrusive. Combination of hot tub and wood burner makes it a perfect winter retreat. Very much liked that the hot tub seemed to be ozone cleaned rather than chlorine.

The accomodation was done to a very high standard and the hot tub was execellent.

The cottage - beautifully furnished and decorated, very welcoming and cosy. The owner had left us some home-made cake as a welcome which was very thoughtful (and delicious!). The location was also perfect - peaceful but within reasonable distance of a town and amenities.

Loved the cottage. It was so quiet and cosy - perfect.

1st class accommodation with top quality fittings - superbly equipped with everything you could need. Private hot tub and cosy log burner. Set amid glorious countryside with lovely scenic walks from your doorstep. We were made so welcome by the lovely owners - felt at home from the minute we arrived. Best cottage we have stayed in and will definitely be returning. Loved it!!

Perfect weekend

Absolutely lovely holiday cottage. stayed here for a long weekend and the only thing We would change is to stay longer! It was clean and had everything you could need. There was no Wi-Fi which was so refreshing to switch off from the rest of the world! The hot tub was amazing with stunning views. Would definitely recommend a stay here!

Fabulous location with wonderful hot tub

Stayed for 7 nights over Christmas 2015. We chose the cottage due to it's location (near Hebden Bridge), pub within walking distance (The New Delight), a hot tub and a woodburner and it didn't disappoint on any. There is a lovely walk in to Hebden via Heptonstall and the bus back costs £2.50 for a day ticket. The cottage is well equipped and very comfortable and the owners are very friendly.

Believe the reviews

Booked a three night stay at this place as a birthday treat to myself some months in advance so as to avoid disappointment and am very glad I did too. I did my research on various properties beforehand and due to the fact that there was not a single negative review of this property made my decision that much simpler to make. On arrival I was greeted with a plate with two delicious homemade shortbread biscuits and a hand written note welcoming me to the place. The specifications of the property and it's contents is very high, from the furnishings to the kitchen and the very welcome outdoor hot tub. My only negatives are that they hot tub could do with a a roof to keep the rain off and screening as it is visible from the road in front of the cottage, actually it would be better located on the opposite side of the property. There is no internet at the cottage so if connectivity is important to you, then I suggest you look elsewhere, also mobile phone reception is poor, I found this all to be a plus as it felt more like a real break away from the everyday routine. Three minutes walk down the lane is a superb little pub called the New Delight Inn, it serves excellent real ales and the bar staff are very friendly and helpful, this is Ben the owners first year as a landlord and I would say he is doing a fantastic job. A ten minute drive is the wonderful town of Hebden Bridge, it is here that I would suggest is the best breakfast in Yorkshire, look out for the Organic House Cafe, delicious! So all in all I would declare my birthday treat to be a complete success.

mini break

excellent cottage modern well planed great location walkers paradise. alone but but easy contact with owner.

Perfect, relaxing hideaway for two

My husband and I have just spent a wonderfully relaxing week at Pack Horse Stables. A very peaceful location with direct access to a range of country walks if you are keen to see a bit more of the countryside. We were happy to take it easy but did walk into Hebden Bridge which is an easy, if slightly uneven in places, walk even for a couch potato like me. The hot tub is fantastic and very private no worries about scaring the neighbours. Brilliant for star gazing while sipping champagne, then a dash back inside to the wood burning stove. Easy trips to York and Harrogate and Hebden Bridge is a lovely market town with lots of cafes and individual shops to while away the hours. Great location, fabulous cottage and lovely host 🙂

Fantastic Little Cottage

We wanted a nice romantic trip away and the cottage is just perfect for couples. The cottage is lovely inside with everything you would need for a few days away from it all. The hot tub was fab even on a chilly windy day. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Hebden Bridge is close by and has some lovely shops and places to eat. We even treated ourselves to a massage at the Banyan Tree which was just lovely and relaxing. Would love to see the cottage in the summer time as I bet the garden looks amazing.

Lovely escape from the world

Me and my partner picked this cottage for a few nights of peace and quiet away from stressful jobs and we certainly got that. The cottage itself is beautiful and is decorated perfectly. The woodburner made it lovely and cosy and we spent several of the evenings just reading and chilling out. All of the facilities are perfect, lovely kitchen and bathroom with everything you need and a super-comfy bed. Only a few niggles with this cottage, the first which could not be helped, was that the hot tub wasn't really hot enough. We did go in February when it was on the verge of snowing but I would definitely say that it was not really warm enough to use in the middle of winter, I've no idea how the people in the review below managed to sit in it in the snow! This is definitely a feature suited to spring/summer months and I'm sure it would be absolutely delightful then. The second thing which I do have to say annoyed us was the very limited basic supplies. When we arrived at the cottage we were provided with the very end of a toilet roll which was not really enough as we had arrived at 17:00 by public transport and we had no toilet paper when my boyfriend needed to go in the morning. We were also only provided with two firelighters and one dishwasher tablet. I understand that the owners may not want to leave whole boxes around in case someone takes them home but I would rather have paid a couple of pounds more to have those kind of essential supplies ready for us. I would absolutely recommend this cottage as it was really very lovely and the above point may sound minor but we ended up having to go into the village on the bus at the crack of dawn which really ruined our first morning there. This is definitely something which could be improved on. All in all a lovely stay though.

perfect in every way

A fabulous cottage wonderful location a definate place to return to again and again the hot tub was the perfect place to relax at the end of a busy day one of the best cottages i have stayed in the owners very helpful homemaid shortbread on arrival perfect with a cup of tea

Lovely cottage in the countryside

My partner and I visited here in march when we had the heavy snow and we loved every minute of it! It felt surreal being in a hot tub surrounded by a layer of thick snow, incredibly romantic! The cottage was lovely and clean, the underfloor heating was a bonus and all we needed after long walks in the snow to warm us up again, the bed was massive and so comfortable! The cakes on arrival were a lovely touch and so was the complementary wood for the log burner! Overall a fantastic cottage, we can't wait to come back and experience it in the sunshine instead!

Fantastic that is the only word you can say about it

This is the best cottage we have stayed in , so clean, so well laid out, so comfy and the views out of the hot tub fantastic, Hebden Bridge is very nice and a 20 minuet walk away

A fantastic, cosy weekend!

An excellent little place - the owners have thought of everything to make it very welcoming. It was thick with snow while we were there, very surreal relaxing in the hot tub, looking out at the snow all around.

Excellent!!

We have just returned from Packhorse Stables and we are already looking to book again very soon.. It is a very well maintained Converted Stable and is well equipted with all modern appliances. The walks are very nice from here and the buses are regular as clock work if you fancy going exploring. We stayed 3 nights and had a very relaxing stay, we arrived to lots of snow and ice and there is nothing better than sitting in the hot tub and the scenery like a Christmas card! The log burner heats the whole building but if you don't fancy lighting it then just put on the under floor heating and it is very warm in no time. The owners are very welcoming and even provided some lovely cake for when we arrived (Thanks Peggy and Vicky). Anyone who has booked this will not be unhappy with your choice and I can guarantee you a great time here.

Superb cottage with lovely decor and excellent amenities in idyl

Pack Horse Stables was a delight to stay in with every comfort and lovely welcoming touches. Well stocked, the cottage also boasts a fabulous wet room and a hot tub on the patio. Fantastic walks from the front door in every direction and with lovely Hebden Bridge an easy walk and even easier bus ride away.

Cosy weekend away

We loved the cottage from the moment we opened the door - it was warm and welcoming and the home-made carrot cake waiting for us was a lovely touch. As we were late in arriving, we didn't see the owner but she contacted us the next day to make sure everything was ok. The cottage is lovely: beautifully decorated, very comfortable and perfect for a romantic break. we had fine views over the valley, especially when enjoyed from the hot tub. We were very cosy despite the cold November weather and the woodburning stove heated the cottage throughout, so we didn't really need the radiators. The kitchen was very well equipped with a fridge-freezer and microwave as well as a conventional cooker. The location was very good - there's a 'proper' pub at the end of the lane (about 2 minutes walk) where they serve home cooked meals in substantial portions. The local town (Hebden Bridge) can be reached on foot via a wooded country walk down the valley and we were able to get the bus back, which was very relaxing as we didn't have to use the car. The best part of the stay was the cottage itself and the hot tub - lovely to sink into after a day walking and in the town. It's hard to say what we liked least as there wasn't anything to dislike.

great place to stay

stayed here at the end of october and had a great week the cottage is very clean and modern and the owners have made a great job of the conversion. we enjoyed the walk down into hebdon bridge the path is just by the entrance to the cottage and takes about 40 minutes to get their [take some good boots as the path is quite bumpy ane wey in places} the pub is a short walk away beer is good, food is poor. the olive tree in hebden is excellent and worth a visit. The cottage is of the road but if you can find the new delight pub its the bridal way road opposite to the cottage. had a great week the hot tub is great and the bed is very large! enjoy mike

excellent property

this is a very pleasant property with friendly helpful owners. It is ideal if you want a peaceful secluded break without being too far from the pretty town of Hebden Bridge. The only down side was the rough track to the cottage (signposted "no motor vehicles") which was not good on the suspension of our car. You can leave the car in a pub car park a the bottom of the track if the weather is too bad or icy but personally I wouldnt want to walk up there in bad conditions, but that said I am a less mobile pensioner.
