Fabulous place, remote but that's what we wanted. Grounds to the cottage were fantastic.
What a fantastic haven in the midst of a pandemic. All our children want is a warm swimming pool and we didn't want to fly anywhere, so this was the perfect option. We spent most of our days in and around the big warm pool and we never felt cold getting out because the massive polytunnel kept the pool surroundings as warm as we liked, even when the weather was cool, wet and windy. We also played football on the massive lawn, fed the chickens scraps, fed the horses grass and walked down to the lake to see the swans. Inside, the house and its fittings are absolutely beautiful, practical and child friendly. They are a credit to our hosts Paul and Grasheena next door, who are very friendly, helpful and available, yet unfussy and relaxed.
The barn was beautiful and clean, everything you needed was there to have a great holiday. The pool was excellent especially for my grandchildren. I didn't use the hot tub but others in my party did.
We enjoyed a super week at Pheasants Roost. The garden and pool area was great and enjoyed by all of the family. The location was ideal for exploring Norfolk Coast and country/broads.
We really enjoyed our stay at Pheasants Roost. The owners were friendly and helpful but left us to our own space which we appreciated. We felt we could trust the thorough cleanliness of the property and didn’t need to worry about that at all. We loved having the sole use of the pool and hot tub. I was a bit disappointed that there was no views of the lovely surrounding countryside out of the windows. Lots of frosted glass and roof lights.
The pool was cold all week and was the main reason for my family holiday. I was very disappointed when told by the owner it was solar powered heating which is not a heated pool in my opinion
Having spent a lovely week at Pheasant Roost with some of our family I would recommend this place to anyone. Welcoming hosts, who let us get with things, but were there if we needed them. Comfy accommodation and spacious garden leading to the pool and hottub. I hope to be returning next year. Especially recommended to those who want all the comforts of home but away from the hustle and bustle of a busy town or village.
We had a good stay, and it was very nice to be in our own accommodation given the current situation. Wifi was really not good, very intermittent or not working at all, we even struggled to make a phone call home to check on family. The hot tub was wonderful, however we have to agree with another reviewer the swimming pool was freezing. We had hoped to use it more than we did but couldn't for this reason, it was one of the main reasons for booking and paying the high price. The upstairs was set out really well and was very spacious. It was great having a dishwasher, so no worries about doing the washing up. There's an amazing array of leaflets for the area, however some are rather out of date and not operating. It would have been nice to meet the owners properly especially when we had an email from them just 5 minutes after leaving saying it was nice to make your acquaintance and hope you have arrived home safely.
Nice accomodation. Nice hosts. It didn't affect us but the pool is not well heated. We used it once and then stuck to the hot tub as it was not much warmer than a paddling pool. Through the middle of summer I'm sure it would be fine but not for the week we had. It wouldn't stop us staying again. The place was lovely, well equipped and very chilled, pleasant surroundings.
A little late leaving this review as we stayed in back in May. Pheasants Roost was the most perfect little holiday rental. Perfectly planned out and everything thought of. The added bonus of the hot tub, pool and beautiful garden just makes you feel like you've escaped from the world! Grasheena and Paul are lovely hosts and make you feel very comfortable and at home. In terms of location, it is definitely on the remote side. Don't forget to buy your basics when you're in Dereham, because you can't just nip to the corner shop here! Having said that, it's not so far out that the Thai place wouldn't deliver! Overall we had a wonderful holiday and wouldn't hesitate to book Pheasants Roost again if we come/go back to Norfolk.
Everything was there that we needed from towels, tin foil, hand wash to boxed games. Such a peaceful place to visit, owners were very friendly & helpful. Although Pheasant Roost was in a remote place, once your in the car you can reach anywhere. Swimming facilities clean, fishing lakes accessible. Dishwasher, washing machine, fridge & separate freezer. Morrison’s do food deliveries. Local pubs do fantastic food. 2 swings hanging from trees in the garden, lots of greenery to run around on. Felt very safe there.
Lovely relaxing week with family! Pool area fantastic.
