We had a great time and this resort suited our needs

We had a lovely stay at Rookley but due to COVID we didn’t get to use many facilities at the park and chose to eat out at different restaurants, we did book the pool for our three year old niece but it was cancelled at the last minute leaving her disappointed so didn’t book it again. But all in all a beautiful place to stay.

I’ve scored the holiday low down to one thing really. We had a hot tub with our stay and during our stay when we went to use it we couldn’t as clearly no one had checked it, nor cleaned it before they signed the cottage off for the public to use, the hot tub was only half full abs cold, it also had a lot of rust inside too. Also there was no light outside the back where the hot tub was so we would have been in pitch black. Albeit we called reception and maintenance came to fix it, he filled the tub up, but when chatting with him his view on the park was quite negative and wasn’t surprised that the hot tub the way it was, then when I asked him where the light was he said you haven’t got one, to his surprise, your going to have to open your blinds and use the light from inside! That was a real shame for a hot tub holiday. The cottage itself and resort was lovely.

The accommodation was spacious with the hot tub secluded to the rear of the property. The sofa was covered in stains and like sitting on a brick. The table was also covered in stains and had a sticky feel no matter how much it was cleaned. The floor creates like mad, I don't think there was any underlay. The kitchen was adequate but only one roasting tin, no other trays to cook on and only one shelf in the oven. The beds were so hard we went and purchased a duvet cover to try to pad it a bit, but it was a week of miserable sleep. I did not go in the resteraunt to comment. The staff I encountered were all friendly and helpful. The surroundings were beautiful. If they provided better furniture in the accommodation it would have made a huge difference to our experience.

Prices had been inflated as holiday was booked after expected lift of covid restrictions however accommodation and facilities not worth money paid. Despite being in ‘VIP’ cottage, accommodation was basic, toaster and TV remote did not work, dishwasher was full with dirty crockery on arrival. Crockery/cutlery was all mismatched. Linen had stains on. Dust and hair under table and in bedrooms. Furniture was creaky and obviously worn/tired. No WiFi in accommodation (only available at clubhouse), however now mobile signal available onsite for 3G/4G. Bar very expensive. Would joy seve at bar and advised had to wait for table service - wait for table service (for drinks only) was over 40 minutes. Restaurant/take out menu incredibly limited.
