This rural escape is the perfect place to spend time enjoying the great outdoors. Looking for things to do in Rutland? Take to the water, and there’s plenty of it, nature reserves bursting with birdlife, and country houses. Tiny Rutland makes a big splash. Lap the vast reservoir by foot or bicycle and take in lush, green nature reserves where elegant ospreys with giant wingspans dive for their fish suppers. High teas are served up at this central county’s stately homes while centuries-old country inns pull cask ale pints. Visit castle halls harking back to Norman times. For a relatively small county Rutland has its fair share of golf courses. Get ready to tee-up with views across Rutland Water. The quaint towns of Oakham and Uppingham offer a range of individual boutiques. Uppingham is famed for its antiques and galleries, whilst the county town of Oakham offers a great mix of quality high street and independent shops – not to mention a castle!. The Hot Tub

    Location

As above everything we needed and more. The arrival of garden/patio furniture will truly set this lodge off.

Absolutely stunning lodge which far exceeded our expectations! The lodge was spotlessly clean and the beds all looked amazing made up with throws and accent cushions. The bi-fold doors in the living/dining/kitchen area were perfect for the lovely weather we were fortunate enough to enjoy for most of our week long stay. The wrap-around deck was huge (and benefitted from day long sunshine) and many hours were spent in the large hot tub which was tended to twice daily by polite and friendly staff.

Comfortable lodge ideal for a holiday base. Only negative was that bin was full of rubbish on arrival (some were raw meat packages), and dishwasher was half full of dirty cups and dishes. These are things that should of been checked by the cleaners. Otherwise everything else was lovely.

Lodge great but no outdoor furniture

The hot tub was amazing and expertly maintained during our stay, as others have said its not the most private location on the veranda but once you are in its fine. We had a few issues during our stay, our daughters window was broken which meant it was closed and not able to be opened for the week - one of the hottest in the year! There was a note on the window saying the staff were aware and working on it, but no updates. We had a wasps nest in the roof space above the main bedroom, this was reported and immediately dealt with, but it was a first night on a sofa/chair for us. We only had 3 forks in our lodge which slept 6. We did have an issue with the quality of the mattresses, very poor and no mattress protectors on any of the beds, we tried to use a spare duvet to improve this but overall not a good sleeping experience. We did raise this with the staff, who sounded surprised, but did say they would look into this. The staff were great, just a few issues with the lodge which led to lower scores. We personally felt it was expensive for what it was, however we understand the demand for UK breaks too. The lack of wi-fi didn't affect us too much, but in this day and age is an essential and should be included. We had read the previous reviews and saw there was no outdoor furniture so took our old camping chairs, however would be so much better to sit on comfortable furniture in the sun, I believe an order has been made but delayed due to Covid, will make a massive improvement when it arrives.

The Caravan / Lodge was of a high standard and very clean which i would have expected as we paid a lot of money for it. Disappointed that there was no wifi or patio furniture (which is mentioned), considering the amount we paid. The land to the side of the property had some large shrubs which were very overgrown which made it difficult to get out of the car. Some paving slabs had been thrown down to make a `path' and were very unstable. When we arrived on the Monday it was raining which made the slabs, the stairs and the patio area extremely slippery and dangerous for those who are unsteady on their feet. By Wednesday builders had arrived to install the patio area for the caravan opposite which made us feel uncomfortable using the hot tub which is at the front of the property. The work was also noisy as they started at 8.30. The main bedroom with its en-suite was very dark as we had trees and shrubbery within 6 ft of the property due to it being situated near to a road.

Lovely lodge, modern, clean and spacious. The addition of the outdoor furniture was excellent.

The only negative about the holiday was the three piece suite in the Lounge. We can all honestly say it was the most uncomfortable suite we have ever had the misfortune to try to sit on. When you sat down we all seemed to tilt forward. So we suffered with bad backs & neckache, so we used the Hot tub more than usual for our backs. Apart from that the Lodge was amazing and we would book again. Our Lodge had the most amazing fridge freezer - the freezer was massive, and the fridge was enormous ( American style) but be careful what you put in the bottom draw - as we did not read the draw front which stated 0 degrees - so anything in there was frozen solid very quickly including mushrooms & peppers! The Hot Tub was fantastic, one of our grandsons cried when it came to leave simply because he was leaving the hot tub behind. 5 star.

Overall a fabulous holiday. As others have mentioned a downside is the lack of wifi as the 4G is intermittent. The TV is also tiny and kept losing connection for the internet based channels. Not vital but a nice to have for the children in the evenings.

Amazing, beautiful, clean lodges. Could not fault anything. Hot tubs large and really clean. Checked everyday. Staff friendly and extremely helpful.

Lovely lodge only real downside is lack of privacy with the hot tub. A table lamp in the lounge area for anyone that would like to read a book which I do would be of a great help if others in the room don't want the bright overhead lights on. I was surprised there wasn't a mop to wipe/wash the floor being there was a bucket supplied it would be helpful when it's a wet day and more than 1 hand towel per bathroom for a lodge that sleeps 6 people even if it's a weekend break. Furniture is well made no cheap and cheerful that was likely to break if you even looked at it. Going to miss having 2 bathrooms and the hot tub that we lived in.
