Really spacious and clean, easy to get in and out of the area. Few items in the house have been removed because of COVID-19 (Sponges, kitchen towels, hairdryer, consoles) hot tub was clean but a bit lime scaley. Overall a good experience and would recommend.
A very enjoyable few days for adults & children
I would highly recommend this particular resort . Apart from the lovely luxury log cabin , there is so much to do around the area and Suffolk, Norfolk coastline .
Lovely place for a relaxing break. Not too many lodges on site. Hot tub area could do with a bit more privacy around the decking area so not overlooked by neighbouring lodges.
Not enough seating inside. Only 4 of us stayed in a 6 berth but we still had to use a chair from outside as only one two seater and one three seater sofa which are so posititioned that make viewing the TV very difficult. Have doubts over the cleaning as there was food left in a cupboard from a previous occupant and there were tissues behind/under the sofas.
Relaxing, comfortable and beautiful lodge.
Great lodge, (ours was no. 15 which was very private) very clean Good facilities, large hot tub, large rooms, very large bed. We had a small issue with the hot tub jets and the arrived with in minutes of being called out and made sure it was fixed. Only issues was the sofa needed upgrading and its rather tired and the mattress was not comfortable.
Excellent short break and would definitely recommend. Excellent staff.
Stayed here 2 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed first time around so booked again. The area is amazing and the grounds are peaceful and well kept. This time around the lodge wasn't as clean, cobwebs in corner behind main front door. Child's hand prints on windows on main doors. A bedside light missing and wire tied up in corner. Bread bin in cupboard pulled it out to use and it was dirty I had to clean it to use it. You now have to vacate by 9am on the last day. We were just getting out at 9.10am and a guy possibly park owner pulled up outside in a black bmw with his engine running and lights on looking in at us for about 5 mins, he then came to the front door to ask if we knew we had to vacate by 9am. Just a few niggles, of an otherwise amazing holiday and lovely part of the UK.
The Lodge is lovely in size and layout but is tired and looks unloved. Paint peeling, cracks in ceiling and walls in bathrooms. Ceiling lights stuck with tape, button missing off cooker, hot tub cover all ripped, front door hits the frame, remotes not working. No Cleaning under beds full of dust or outside the lodge debris and old cobwebs everywhere. Also our lodge was next to Road side and traffic noise in morning was loud. The Park is also next to a sewage works but we didn’t smell anything but was a concern. That all said we enjoyed our stay apart from the road noise the park is very quiet and the lodges well spread apart and is a good location to explore Bury at Edmunds and the area
Aspen Country Park is well situated very near to Bury St Edmunds with a rural feel as it is in the middle of fields. It is very quiet and the lodges are really spaced out. It is well equipped and great for dogs as the decks are gated. Occasionally there was the hint of a whiff of the sewage works nearby but it really wasn’t a problem. However, the lack of staff on site means that any problems you have need to be dealt with someone far away, with the threat of a £30 call out charge if it is unnecessary. Our hot tub was great, but by the end of the week definitely needed the ph monitored as it was making our skin rather itchy. On a previous park a few months ago, someone came every single day to monitor the levels but not one visit here as far as I’m aware. Uncomfortable mattresses are another of my main gripes with a lot of lodges - why do they provide so many other high class appliances and surroundings but neglect the beds? The sinks were not draining correctly in bathrooms, something that was also happening in the lodge nearby- there is clearly a problem with drainage but isn’t being sorted. You had to be careful not to flood the bathroom as it was so slow. Considering this cost over £2,000 for a week, I do expect more for my family! Despite the problems, we had a great week exploring the area.
We greatly enjoyed our stay and the lodge was relatively clean and cosy but there were a few issues which downgrade it from the luxury lodge it is billed as. A lodge for 6 should have seating for 6 but the corner sofa only comfortably seats 3. A week sitting on a dining chair does not make for a relaxing break. The shabby chic dining area needs cleaning properly to remove the stains and ring marks from previous customers. The bathrooms look luxurious but the ceiling paint was flaking into the shower and the park warden can’t fix it without approval from the owner first. The shower tray and partition were very clean but the tiles and grout were brown and mouldy. The bath looks great but the water pressure is so low that it cannot be filled. There are no drawers in the master bedroom and the wardrobe is filled with a Hoover, ironing board, mop and bucket so there is no where to put clothes away. A spotlight was hanging from the ceiling in the twin room and (like the bathrooms) couldn’t be fixed unless authorised by the owner. The outside area hasn’t been cleaned for a long time which is evidenced by the cobwebs covering the eaves, doors and windows making it feel dirty and uncomfortable to sit outside.
