Woodside Lodges Country Park is part of our Wanderwood Lodge Holidays Collection, a magical rural retreat set in 25 acres of beautiful landscaped grounds that have won a David Bellamy Gold Award for Conservation every year since 2005. A sublime mix of water, woodland and stunning Herefordshire scenery, easily accessed from the M5, this is a perfect escape for some good old-fashioned country fun with loved ones, family and friends.

Walk on the wild side! Surrounded by countryside with five picturesque pools and two fishing lakes, get back to nature wild-water swimming with the kids, fishing, grabbing a net and pond-dipping, or simply strolling in the wildflower areas and watching the wildlife. Come sunset, sit back with a barbecue before curling up for some serious star-gazing.

Waterfalls, riding and rock climbing unfold from the doorstep, while Ledbury, just 10 minutes’ drive, offers cycle hire. A little further afield at Symonds Yat why not try your hand at white water canoeing. Historic Hereford and cultural Ross-on-Wye are 20 minutes away.

My scores would be 10 out of 10 but for one thing. Guests have to leave the lodge early to ensure extra cleaning which was fine. We were I instructed to open the windows prior to leaving. Here in lies the problem...... Flies! We arrived and the flies in the kitchen were too much. The park really needs to try and address this and at least have fly spray and fly catchers available in the lodge. This is the one reason I would not return in the summer and it is such a shame because the lodge and park otherwise are amazing. Winter will probably be OK but I could not stand the amount of flies we had to contend with in July.

Covid restrictions meant we didn't get to meet anyone on check-in, which was a shame. Lots of instructions to read ! Superb weather this time. Minor things: Attic bedroom could perhaps benefit from a mirror - also a stool to get into the hot tub would be useful. Hot tub necessarily takes up a lot of the shade in the afternoons (which is why we'd tried to book the non-VIP lodge) Fire pit rather low to use as a bbq. Shower over bath has leaky hose.

Lodge was excellent and the only things that I feel would improve them was a heater on the veranda and the lounge lighting was poor but this did not affect our overall enjoyment.

Overall it was a brilliant place! With 6 or 7 people, an additional sofa or armchair and some throws would be great for relaxing

Lots of walks off site . Nice pubs and cafes in ledbury 30 min walk along the lane. If weather is hot take a fan for 1st floor bedroom. Toasty.
