We stayed for our 10yr anniversary and had a very nice, quiet, peaceful time away. Under the worlds circumstances it was just what we needed. We had a few drinks each night in the hot tub and then came in and put the log burner on to watch Netflix or a film. (We took a laptop for Netflix as the tv is not a smart tv). We went out for meals but also made home cooked meals with the facilities. The bedrooms were large and the bed was very comfy. After 2 previous holidays being cancelled because of covid this weekend was perfect.
Excellent location, brilliant holiday home couldn’t fault it. Would only advise to have more cooking pots not many! Didn’t take away from home amazing the holiday was! Will definitely be booking again!
The Forge was lovely, and the hot-tub was great and very very well maintained. The only thing that spoilt it a bit was, it wasn't cheap and checking in at 5pm and checking out at 9am felt like getting there late and leaving very early, having to get up at 7.30am to strip the beds and pack up. I know this wasn't McKinder Farms fault as it was all to do with Covid and the cleaning process. Its weird how a few hours difference makes the stay feel so much shorter. Beautiful place though, very well kept.
We had a lovely couple of days at the forge. Quiet and peaceful, lovely hot tub and log burning fire. Beautiful and well kept cottage and James on hand for any help needed. We would definitely like to return!
Very nice cottage. Genial host. Will return.
The Forge is a beautiful cottage. Close by to everything you need with all of the peace and quiet of the countryside.
We had a lovely, restful time at The Forge (MacKinder Farms), which is just what we needed. A beautifully converted and equipped building with comfortable sofas and beds as well as the relaxing hot tub outside. James was very welcoming, helpful and approachable. We were delighted that there were EV charging points available for our car and that there was investment in reducing the carbon footprint of the farm via solar and wind power. We saw birds nesting in the hedges in the back garden, thanks to their observation of the hedge-trimming ban until nesting season is over. We were also delighted to see lots more wildlife in and around the farm, too. Thanks for a lovely stay. We’ll definitely be back.
Lovely and peaceful. James was really helpful. We will definitely be recommending to friends and family.
A fantastic 4 night break to totally relax and unwind! The hot tub was incredible and we made the most of this daily. The cottage is so quiet and private and was just what we were looking for to take some time out! We were fortunate enough to be able to check in slightly earlier but have to say that we were disappointed at the times for check in and check out, however we appreciate that this was due to additional cleaning and Covid compliance. If you want to totally relax and unwind then this is definitely the place to do it!
Just returned from a great week in this property. It is spotlessly clean and maintained to an excellent standard. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could need and rooms furnished to a high standard. Garden furniture at the front and back on the property in both gardens and the hot tub is checked twice a day. All floors are tiled so easy to keep clean with a dog in tow. Would loved to have stayed for another week. We ate at the Owl pub in Hambleton twice during our stay and the food is excellent.
