Hidden gem!

We found this Shepherds Hut perfect for what we wanted and would definitely return. The hut was very clean and had everything you need. People need to bear in mind this is a Shepherds hut and in the middle of the countryside so probably do adequate research before booking so you aren't disappointed with it being in the middle of nowhere. It was a perfect location for us and it is perfect for visiting the Roaches. We can't wait to return again and hopefully get sunny weather next time!

Blissful retreat

After the pressures of this year so far, I booked this lovely shepherd hut for a week with my husband for some much needed relaxation. I was not disappointed... Beautifully situated with a view of Ramshaw Rocks we found it easy to unwind in the hot tub with the peace & quiet of the stunning countryside. Lorna & Darren were perfect hosts, everything was immaculate & well thought out. It's location means it is easy to visit places of interest or just walk in the Peak District. We will definitely recommend Laburnum Retreat as a great place for quiet, relaxation.

Very disappointed

We came a while back now and I still haven’t received my £80 money back as we didn’t want to stay in the end, we turned up and it just wasn’t for us, you are very far from shops and restaurants plus the drive down to it nearly broke my partners car. We couldn’t see a hot tub in sight either but we were then told that it is in their back garden... very misleading To top it off I had left my hand bag there in the hut so once we got home my lovely partner had to go back to the hut and the lady then explained then that the hot tub was on the back garden. Also she just couldn’t understand why we didn’t want to stay. We are both in our late 20s and just want something a little more in the town. We were very apologetic but the lady wasn’t having it. Still owe me £80 for a year ago! I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. It’s a very rural destination

Beautiful views,lovely hut,No Wi-Fi

We booked for 3 nights but only stayed 2, we arrived 10 minutes early at 2.50 but the owner seemed suprised to see us,said time had gotta away from her. The hut was open, fresh milk and cake avaliable she talked us through the woodburner which was lovely and how to lower the bed. Noticed the table hadnt been wiped on closer inspection after she had left. The hut really is lovely and we enjoyed the beautiful views. I went in the hot tub and read my book. This was fantastic and i enjoyed looking up at the Roaches which we walked up the following day. My partner didnt want to use the hot tub due to the strong chemicals so maybe to more sensitive skin not recommended. The downside was the Wi-Fi didnt work. We connected the Monday briefly but then nothing, this didn't matter during the day as we were out but was frustrating in the evening when you want to wind down and whats app family or google local places to go. There was a folder with place to go but it was a little outdate one for a flower show in 2017. We told the owner about the wifi Tuesday, she said 'all the lights we're on the box' my andriod and partners IPhone both said 'internet may not be avaliable' we did all the tricks to get it working but failed. I used all my plans data through the time there, Wednesday she called a tech to come fix it but he never appeared. The owner was apologetic. By 7pm we just thought we'd head home. Over all it was a lovely little place and if you arent bothered at all about using the wifi perfect for you.

Spectacular views

Had a lovely 7 days here in the sherherds hut, was delightful and cosy, cake & milk on arrival, the views are amazing as is all the scenery in the area. Only complaint was the hot tub was not the big private one in the sykes pictures, but a smaller one in not a very private place next to the breakfast conservatory. Other than that would stay again as in such a quite relaxing position, wi-fi I could only get if stood outside near back of the hut

Lovely little place

The hut was so cosy and the views are spectacular. On a hot day this place would be magical. The hut itself is well a quipped out, bed is comfy and has everything you need. The only moan we have is the fact it advertised and the reviews about the cake on arrival. I know most places don’t do this and we don’t expect it, just don’t have a laminate on the wall saying “there is a cake and milk in the fridge on your arrival” imagine then looking into a empty fridge. We drove out to get milk as well. The hot tub could be bit more private as well not at side off the house with all windows looking into it. The one on the pics has all wood round it for a bit off privacy, we never saw that.

Such a lovely place - cabin was gorgeous. Cake on arrival (although we didn’t eat it was a nice touch). Warm and bed was comfy. The only criticism would be knowing where the boiler was for the shower (we did ask in the end) the views are gorgeous. Lorna the lady was lovely - she requested a near by pub for us to eat for our evening meal. Lorna also helped if we had any questions no matter how big or small. The hot tub was absolutely amazing! Such a sucluded area. Peaceful and nice views! Would defo recommend and we will visit again!!

This location has amazing views and the shepheard hut is stunning.

When we arrived at the hut, we couldn't believe how lucky we were to have found such a great place. Lorna ( the owner) had left us some gorgeous home made cakes for when we arrived, which was a nice touch. The views were truly stunning from our hut door. The hut was really cosy and had every thing we needed for self catering. If you manage to book this amazing hut then you must also try the wonderful hot tub. We loved it after a long walk on the Roaches. We would definitely visit again
