This stone cottage appears traditional at first glance but upon entering you will be amazed at the luxurious modern styling and attention to detail throughout. There is an open plan living space set around a multi-fuel stove nestled in a small inglenook fireplace, opening through to a spacious dining room with bi-fold doors to the garden and quality fitted kitchen with granite worktops and social breakfast bar, offering excellent cooking and entertaining space for your holiday needs. The separate utility room is also fully fitted and provides ample laundry facilities and a second reception room provides a cosy area to settle in front of the living flame gas fire enjoying one of the five Smart televisions. Upstairs the luxury continues, with four quality bedrooms, comprising a twin, a double, a king-size double and a super king-size double bedroom with an en-suite shower room, plus a stylishly-appointed family bathroom with a designer egg-shaped bath and a walk-in rainfall shower. Parking is accessed under an archway to the rear, where you will also find the York stone paved garden with ample seating and a hot tub. Just a few minutes' walk away are all of the attractions of this popular town, with Ruthin Castle well worth a visit along with the Gaol and Craft Centre, many independent retailers, cafes and traditional pubs, and an abundance of walking trails leading from the town, including the popular Clwydian Way. Location

Reviews

Some good features but may not be suitable for eight people

This was our second choice after our first was cancelled late in the day. We were a group of four single people using it as a base for walking, and the location and the indoor space generally worked well for us. However, there were some shortcomings. Upstairs there are four bedrooms. The main room is massive and bedrooms two and three are a good size, but the fourth is tight for space and has two single beds yet no bedside tables, lamps or mirror. This is an eight-person house with only one ensuite which, if it were fully occupied, would mean six people sharing the main bathroom (which is lovely, spacious and does have a fantastic shower!). Oh yes, and the floorboards upstairs are very creaky which makes it quite noisy downstairs if anyone is walking around above. Downstairs, the snug area was lovely, roomy and comfortable and the open plan kitchen, dining, living area was also good, with folding doors outside. The kitchen is generally well-equipped although a larger group would need more cutlery, and there were only six dining chairs which, again, would present problems for a group of eight. The house is on a very busy, and noisy road. If you keep all the windows and doors shut the double-glazing does its job, but if you want to let any air in (which can be a challenge as the windows don't open very wide) or sit outside, then the traffic noise comes with it. We parked easily on the road outside the house so we didn't need the vehicle access to the back (where the hot tub and sauna are). There were limited cleaning materials provided and we were surprised not to find any sort of welcome pack - not even a pint of milk. Overall the house worked reasonably well for us given we were only four and we were only using it to eat and sleep in, but we thought it was a bit over-priced and lacking in a few basics. Ruthin itself has a small but charming town centre, but the options for eating out are a bit limited. We cooked for ourselves six nights out of seven and used the large Tesco and the Co-op for food shopping which provided everything we needed.

Fantastic stay

We had a great long weekend here celebrating a 21st, 50th and 60th birthday. The house is beautiful, perfect for a large group. Everything we needed was available. The owner was lovely and we had no problems. Short walk to town where there are shops, supermarkets and pubs etc. We would love to return.

Superb in so many ways !

Superb location to the wonders of Ruthin which itself is splendid for a plethora of reasons. The House has been constructed and designed to the highest of standards. So we'll designed to encourage a large group to socialise and enjoy each other's company. Massive open downstairs space, with such great privacy of upstairs bedrooms. Hotub is a delight. Outdoor space plentiful. We will be back believe me.
