Cold hot tub and not what the pictures show!!

The description and images of the cottage suggest that it is private and on its own. When in facts it’s next to reception and other accommodations. You also can’t let your dog outside of cottage due to there being no closed fencing. If it was an open space like the images suggest it wouldn’t be a problem but with cars driving past that’s not ok. We specifically booked this cabin for this reason and for the hot tub. On the first night we jumped in the hot tub which was cold, after 2 minutes we had to jump out and have a hot shower. Shower took around 5 minutes to get warm and didn’t last for long. The black mould and old soap with other people’s hairs didn’t invite us to stay very long in there. . Next one of us almost knock ourselves out on an over handing bit of roof in the bedroom which I doubt would pass health and safety. . Next morning, I call at reception, rang all 3 numbers , including the Emergancy numbers. I also text them too. I did this several times throughout the day and received not text back to call. We gave up in the end. I would like a refund.... let see

Not quite up to scratch

Whilst the listing shows a map, it does not state the road is extremely busy, 24/7 and the constant rumbling of trucks and other traffic spoilt the week. We wanted an idyllic get a way but this was not possible. Also the cottage is right next door to the service area for the entire park, constant comings and goings. This was not mentioned in any literature nor was the fact it was part of a park of 20+ other cabins. The accommodation is very dated, something that cannot be seen in the pictures. The utensils seemed 20 years old and the plastic chopping board was unhygienic with scratches so deep it was coming apart. The oven took hours to cook anything and the hob I feel is totally unsafe, the gas hobs can be left on without being lit, I’m not sure this is even legal. The Carbon Monoxide alarm did not have a battery cover on it and the hoover looked like something out of the 1950’s. The main lounge kitchen area was freezing unless the fire was left on all day. There are also electric sockets directly behind the gas hob, not so sure about that. Also, the WiFi is not worth being advertised at all. I did contact Sykes about our concerns and I felt they were only interested in how the listing reflected the actual accommodation, ie, the road was on the map, and the listing stated it was on a golf course even though it does not state there are other lodges on the site. One positive was the hot tub. It did get filthy after 3 days but was sorted by the staff. We love the area and found lots of walks, the cottage is adequate but no more than that. There are better places to stay for the same money. Like I said the hot tub was great, nice outlook and we enjoyed that part of things.

Welsh Winter Wonderland

We had originally booked for the Hawthorns Spa but due to the bad weather and snow the pipes had frozen. The lady on reception was really helpful and managed to relocate us to the Stablings. It’s such a lovely little cottage the fire was lit and the hot tub was fired up all ready for our arrival. We were really looking forward to staying in the log cabin but the Stablings was a nice surprise and we were not disappointed. Everything was catered for. The views and scenery is stunning and we can’t wait to return during the warmer months to explore the site some more, and I will definitely recommend.
