Close to the Cornish coast. You will find Beech Cottage set in a courtyard with two other cottages at Carpenters Tinney. The cottage offers couples or a family, a nice cosy cottage away from the hassle of everyday life. The property is located on the Devon and Cornwall border just 8 miles inland from Bude and within the grounds (but away from the cottages) is the River Tamar, the border between Devon and Cornwall.

Carpenters Tinney is a small holding at the end of a tree-lined drive, where you will have 11-acres to explore, relax and unwind. There is a large garden where you can meet the animals and wander down to the bottom fields, a natural environment where you can sit and watch the wildlife. You can even have a go at fishing from the riverbank. Carpenters Tinney is an ideal place to switch off and re-energize.

The gated decking area with the shared, heated, outdoor 5m swimming pool is located just outside the courtyard. A hot tub is available for the ultimate treat but as this may not appeal to everyone, it is at an extra charge. You have your own sitting-out area, and in the courtyard there is a small stone barn where there are toys, body boards, wind breaks and even buckets and spades that you can borrow.

Use of the owners’ washing machine is available at cost. One small/medium sized dog is welcome and there is an allocated area for your dog to be let off the lead.

If you wish to be active, the cottages are not far from the beaches of Bude and Widemouth Bay, ideal for surfing, bodyboarding, building sandcastles and crabbing. Water sports and additional fishing are available at Tamar and Roadford Lakes. Horse riding, golf courses and cycle trails are nearby, and there are some lovely walks along the coast, or you could even venture onto Dartmoor.

The cottage is a good base for the Cornish and Devon coastline; you can get straight onto the main routes to Boscastle, Tintagel and Port Isaac, or you can continue all the way to Penzance and Land’s End. Or head north along the coast to Hartland where you can see the Isle of Lundy, travel on to Clovelly, Westwood Ho!, Lynton and Lynmouth. This location also offers easy access to the south coast as you can reach The Eden Project, St Ives, Polperro and Plymouth all in about an hour.

There are a number of places to visit nearby, including National Trust properties, gardens, wildlife parks, theme parks and steam railways, something for everyone. The cottage is rural so you can enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the countryside, but the nearest shop 2¾ miles, pub and restaurant 4¼ miles.

Recently enjoyed our first stay here and will be booking again for next year. The cottage offered us a peaceful and relaxing break and we were able to take full advantage of the facilities using the pool and hot tub as well as exploring the grounds with our dog. Thank you for everything Debbie, see you next year!

Very quiet location. Relaxing, nobody bothering you. A little remote, but not a problem.

Excellent weeks holiday at Beech Cottage, host Debbie was so attentive to our needs, the property overall was very good and presented to the highest of standards. Situated well away from the hustle and bustle of holiday makers but near enough to access the coast and beaches within 20 minutes. Would definitely use again.

Excellent stay. Cottage and amenities are lovely. We are family of 4 and kids loved the freedom to run around the gardens, use the pool and feed the pigs/sheep. Good access to Bude and surrounding beaches. We will definitely return as the hosts are very friendly. A good pub within walking distance would be important to some but we didn’t miss. Highly recommended.

Just returned from a lovely holiday in Cornwall. Cottage had everything you needed and the grounds were amazing for the kids to have lots of freedom to run around and play. A few things, the cottage is very remote and you need to drive everywhere no local pubs / restaurants or shop. Ok for some but we missed being able to pop for a local meal whilst on holiday. Kids beds were lovely however our bed was quite uncomfortable and very noisy when you move around in the night, lastly I found being charged for electricity a little bizarre, never had that before on a holiday usually you pay and it’s all included it didn’t cost us much but I just found it a little odd. The hosts are lovely and very helpful.

Lovely break with Debbie (the owner) such a peaceful location however the beaches and Bude centre just 20 minutes away. Perfect location for a break away from it all!
