    Dreadful don not stay

Good size lodge in good location . However it is disgustingly dirty with an owner who couldn’t care less about it if she tried. We informed her several times during our stay that we weren’t happy with , her list of excuses was endless and pathetic. She’s obviously well practiced in the art of denial !! Here are some of our complaints , Bathroom bins not emptied, full of very personal items !! Crockery, glasses , cutlery all had to be put through the dishwasher before we could use them . She admitted they didn’t have time to check these , but has time to take your hard earned money from you . En-suite bathroom and main bathroom hadn’t been cleaned properly, they’d even missed a used razor on the side of the bath !! We took some food with us , to cook in the lodge a couple of nights. However the cooker was filthy don’t think it had ever been properly cleaned. So we chose not to use it as we didn’t want to be unwell on holiday . All of the above were brought to the owners attention during our stay , her unbelievable response was to complain to us about how difficult it was to get good cleaning staff !! Bless her, NOT . Guess what , if you can’t get cleaning staff, there’s a very simple solution, CLEAN IT YOURSELF However the above complaints were added to when we got home and realised that the place was also lifting with bed bugs . Within a couple of days we were all covered in bites , after several visits to the doctors they diagnosed scabies. Cost us an absolute fortune in prescription charges and cleaning costs for our own home . The bed bugs had traveled home with us !!! We had to have all of our mattresses, pillows, duvets and carpets professionally cleaned . We contacted the owner yet again, she had no interest at all in our complaint . She was in complete denial and extremely rude , which is the response we thought we’d get but thought we’d alert her to the problem and give her a chance to rectify things . She left her us with no alternative but to report her to south lakes council environmental health department. Thankfully they took our complaints and medical evidence seriously and conducted a full investigation.
