Or pop on your walking boots and exploring the local the area, be that five minutes down the valley into a beautiful bluebell wood, or in the opposite direction to reach a scenic skyline. Adventurous souls can venture further afield deep into the National Park, tackling the heights of Scafell Pike or the Langdale Pikes, but the lakeside tranquility of Buttermere or boat hire and trips on the heritage steamers at Ullswater too have their gentler charm. For families with children, the Brockhole leisure park is a must, and keen cyclists can pick up the Sustrans 70 route linking the Lakes and the Dales less than half a mile away from Dragonfell or get over to the renowned Whinlater Forest mountain bike trails.
