Reviews

Beautiful location, the cottage was really nicely decorated and well thought out.

Beautiful cottage; extremely clean and well maintained. Jacuzzi was fabulous.

The house was by far the best we have stayed in, it had everything you could want, even a hot tub and pub just across the road.

The owners were very welcoming and friendly. Gatehouse was spacious and homely with plenty of room for 4 adults plus a dog. Not forgetting the hot tub for an even more chilled and relaxing evening! I would highly recommend this accommodation and location.

A quaint cottage with charm and very spacious. Clearly a lot of thought has gone into equipping the property with everything you need for a good holiday. The hot tub was very much appreciated. Multiple living rooms so a larger party can split up and relax in their own space. Much recommended.

The property was close to lots of walks for the daytime and we particularly enjoyed curling up in front of the wood burner in the evening after a soak in the hot tub. There is a very welcoming family-friendly pub directly opposite, and plenty of books and boardgames at the property, so it was perfect for a relaxing break.

Brilliant weekend away, hot tub was lovely! The owners were very helpful in anything we needed. Lovely location. Would highly recommend to anyone thinking of looking to go here.

It was warm and cosy with lots of different spaces to relax in. The beds were really comfortable - slept better than at home! The cottage owners were friendly and helpful. The cottage was charming and we felt really relaxed and at home.

Mr

This was our second trip to Wales in two years, this time we opted to bring along our two Border Terriers. Wendy (the owner) was very welcoming and a wealth of local knowledge, you couldn’t ask more from an owner. The house itself was very clean and had everything we needed for a weeks stay. The garden was enclosed and that neither of our BTs could find an escape route despite their persistence in trying. Location wise the property is opposite the Roast Ox Inn. Don’t let this put you off, as the pub and village are very quiet. You will get a good nights sleep each night. Hay On Wye is just a few miles drive away and is well worth a visit. The Brecon Beacons and miles and miles of beautiful scenery meant we were truly spoilt for natural beauty that is on the doorstep. There is so much to do in the area within a 90 minute drive of the house. Just check out the T.I. leaflets and flyers that are in the house or just ask Wendy ! Weather wise we needn’t of taken our walking jackets as it did not rain, but Wales is very green and cannot be so green without the rains, so go prepared. The nearest supermarket is in Hay On Wye (Co Op), there is a fuel station in Clyro that sells the essentials along with petrol and diesel. An up to date sat nav is also very handy, without one, our journeys would’ve been much longer. As the house is not on an A road, the roads can be quite narrow although not busy by any means but it helps to memorise the last “passing” as you may need to reverse back to it if you are confronted by a tractor etc. We all loved the under cover hot tub, it was very nice to relax in after the walks to help ease those aching feet and muscles. We would recommend this property to all and at some point we will return for another weeks stay. The property is good value for money and we could not thank Wendy enough for making our stay perfect. A, J, C & E (not forgetting Amber & Tilly BT)

Perfect retreat for a family

Firstly, the owner is a very caring lady, who made our stay just perfect! Gatehouse is spotlessly clean with fresh flowers and Welsh cakes on the table. It's a large house . The pictures don't do it justice. Crisp white bedding and extremely comfy beds! As for the hot tub, that was a bonus!. Also a very friendly pub over the road with excellent grub. Only four miles to Hay on Wye. Horse riding and canoeing locally too. Lovely Welsh countryside and mountains. Perfect.
