A charming stone detached farmhouse situated in the hamlet of Pencoed, two miles from the town of Corwen. This wonderful cottage is located in a slightly elevated position overlooking rolling Dee Valley countryside and the Berwyn Mountains beyond making it an excellent base for friends and families to explore this stunning area. Groes Llwyd is generous in its proportions and provides excellent holiday accommodation with a well thought out interior with comfy furnishings and some wonderful features such as the quarry tiled flooring in the kitchen, exposed beams and stripped wood flooring. The beamed sitting room is light and bright with wonderful views. The impressive inglenook fireplace is a wonderful attribute to the room and the addition of the woodburning stove ensures a warm and relaxing ambience, and with enough comfy seating for everyone is an ideal place to spend time relaxing at the end of a busy day. A second sitting room has been thought out with younger members of the family in mind, and is equipped with beanbags, TV/DVD, and a good selection of board games and puzzles, making it perfect for keeping those entertained when rain stops play in the garden. The farmhouse-style kitchen is well equipped and with a large dining table provides a great place to enjoy family meals. There is also an extremely large and useful utility and drying room, ideal storage for bikes and wet weather gear. Upstairs is the well-appointed family bathroom and four good sized bedrooms, all tastefully decorated and well presented. Two bedrooms are located at the front and enjoy lovely countryside views, both boasting a king-size bed with one benefitting from an en-suite shower room. The two remaining bedrooms offer another king size bed with views over the garden and Berwyn Mountains and a twin bedroom to allow for flexible sleeping arrangements. On a warm summer day or evening you can enjoy your meal outside, or perhaps take afternoon tea on the lawn, whilst keeping a close eye on the children running around and enjoying the fresh air. The cottage is ideally situated for walking with numerous walks, amidst scenic countryside, on the doorstep and the Brenig Way, a 32-mile circular route leading to Llyn Brenig is close by. Shops and pubs are available in both Corwen and Bala but if you fancy something a bit different, you can try a bison burger at Rhug Farm Estate just a couple of minutes’ drive down the road, an ideal place to stock up for that barbecue later on. Corwen is a superb hub for adrenalin-fueled adventure, from kayaking and whitewater rafting to mountain biking or a more relaxing day on the Corwen to Llangollen steam railway. There is also the Snowdonia Surf Centre, Zip World and Bounce Below on offer, just a short drive from the cottage. Climbing Mount Snowdon is a must with the views from the top being spectacular on a clear day, however if you’re not feeling that energetic, you could always take a more relaxing approach and let the Snowdon mountain railway take the strain. Whatever you choose to do for your holiday or short break, Groes Lwyd is a lovely welcoming home-from-home and is an excellent base for anytime of the year. Read More
