Reviews

Beautiful Location

To start off, this review would have been a four star review but taking everything into consideration we have only given 3 star. We originally booked through Sykes, and paid over £800 for 5 nights due to go on 28th December 2020. The Welsh government made an announcement of a firebreak lockdown starting on 27th December, we were notified of this around 16th December, so we decided to see if we could go earlier. As the owner had got in touch regarding our booking of 28th, she was very kind at letting us stay earlier on 18th December, and was easy to contact and speak to. We paid a fraction of the price £350.00 direct to her when we arrived. We still had not received our refund from Sykes for the £800.00 but we were confident we would get this back and glad to be able to still get away. The cottage is in a beautiful location, hidden away up a dirt track, amazing views. It has a little stream which goes around the property. The cottage is quite small and our opinion is ideal for couples ( we were a family of four) so slightly small for us. The cottage was very clean, and has everything you need for your stay. The owner is just down the road if you had any problems. There is a hot tub with flashing lights which was amazing, you could sit there and hear the owls at night. Our only issue was that the hot tub was not checked for chemicals and should have been topped up with Chlorine, as this started to smell after 2/3 days. Unfortunately, we had a problem with our booking with Sykes for 28th December. There seems to be an issue with a refund (Sykes are saying it sits with the owner who was paid on 14th December) but the owner says she never received it. I have chased both Sykes and i have called and emailed/text the owner a number of times with no response which is very disappointing. Due to this, this has put us off booking this property again either direct with the owner or through Sykes. It is such a shame as the property is actually a lovely little cottage from our experience . Unfortunately, as we still have not received a refund, we do not feel confident to book again in future.
