General Info

This superb semi-detached cottage situated on a residential street close to the centre of the historic slate mining town of Blaenau Ffestiniog, in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park, and provides a wonderful base for exploring the area for couples, friends or a family. Sympathetically refurbished and renovated to a high standard, Pen y Garreg has been well thought out with comfort in mind and is well maintained with exceptional presentation, with a lot of attention to detail from the owner. Boasting some lovely traditional features, such as stripped parquet flooring and leaded stained glass detail to the windows, combined with a modern and fresh interior Pen y Garreg will not disappoint and you are ensured a warm Welsh welcome. A bay windowed sitting room with sumptuous sofas providing seating for everyone and a lovely fireplace housing a gas coal effect fire, perfect for those chilly evenings in front of the TV watching a favourite film is a nice addition. A dining room provides a great space for a family meal together or choose from one of the many board games and enjoy an evening of family fun! The modern kitchen is well-equipped and caters for all your needs. Upstairs there is a well-appointed family bathroom and three stylish bedrooms, the main bedroom boasts a bay window with a pleasant outlook over rooftops and encompassing craggy mountainous scenery and a king-size bed which can also be made up as a twin giving more flexible sleeping arrangements. Pen y Garreg also has a secure garage offering excellent storage for bikes but its the terraced garden and elevated decked seating area and lawned area which makes this property rather quite special. Here you can enjoy al-fesco dining with some amazing views encompassing the Vale of Ffestiniog, the Moelwyn mountain range and the Manods for company! Walks are in abundance from the rear of the property, which is also ideally placed for numerous cycling paths and trails, Antur Stiniog's downhill mountain bike centre is less than a mile away and the largest mountain bike trail centre in Wales, Coed-y-Brenin, just a twenty minutes drive. The town centre is also a short stroll from the cottage, offering a variety of shops, tea rooms, pubs, eateries and even a 50 seat cinema. The famous Ffestiniog-Porthmadog Steam Railway starts its journey less than a 10 minute walk away, and for the more adventurous of you there is ZipWorld Titan, Zip Caverns and Bounce Below. The coastal towns of Harlech and Criccieth, with their medieval castles, wonderful sandy beaches and hidden coves, and the Italianate village and gardens of Portmeirion are all reached in just 30 minutes.
