General Info

Boasting a rural positon on the outskirts of the bustling town of Longtown is this romantic hideaway, The Chard. This wonderful escape to the country is ideal for a couple seeking to explore the four Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, as well as the picturesque border of Scotland. Spend your evenings within the open-plan living room which comes with everything you could possibly need during your break, as well as mood-lighting to ensure a tranquil setting to unwind with your partner after an action-packed day. Rustle up tasty treats within the compact kitchen and pop open a bottle of fizz to enjoy at the quaint dining space whilst planning the days ahead. Choose to spend your evening curled up on the plush sofa and tune into the TV, or enjoy a refreshing drink in the summer months upon the decked area which overlooks the pond before dipping into the bubbling hot tub to soak up your surroundings further. As the evening draws to a close, retire to the night’s embrace to the plush double bed, boasting quality linens and a well-appointed en-suite shower. As you wake up, look forward to opening up the bi-folding doors to enjoy your morning coffee on the decking before roaming the lawn and admiring the pond. If you don’t feel like cooking one evening, a short car journey will bring you to Longtown where you will find a superb selection of amenities, whilst Gretna Green lies slightly further afield and promises to complete your romantic trip with its Blacksmiths Shop which is now a stylish restaurant and shopping arcade. Alternatively, brush up on the local history by spending time within the city of Carlisle where you can discover its 12th century fortress, the medieval cathedral and the superb Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery, or head to the famous landmark of Hadrian's Wall. If you are feeling active, look forward to exploring the magnitude of walks within the surrounding areas, including Solway Coast, Lake district national park, Northumberland National Park and the North Pennines. The Chard is an outstanding base for exploring the delights that this part of the country has to offer. Read More

The most perfect staycation we could of asked for

Me and my partner have just returned from the best stay at The Chard, If you are looking for a peaceful location and relaxing time away this is your place, we were welcomed by the owner who was very friendly and offered us his help with anything we needed however were not disturbed in any way. We felt totally at peace and could not of asked for a better stay. Waking up to the view of the beautiful pond and stream was a bonus, Thank you very much and we hope to visit again in the future.

Best place ever

Just returned from the most relaxing weekend away. We stayed at The Chard, Longtown. Ran by Danielle and her husband. They were very welcoming. It is set just outside longtown in The very rural area Of Crawley, it feels very secluded. The chard is a small little cabin overlooking a beautiful pond and all you can hear is the birds and wildlife around you. The cottage was very clean and has everything you need. You can switch off from the busy world in the hot tub. This is now one of my favourite places to visit in Cumbria and we will be going back as soon as possible.
