Reviews

The outside area was amazing and the owners couldn't do enough to make sure we had a good holiday.

A very spacious property with everything we needed. In a lovely setting and with attentive owners. The chill out area was a real bonus - a property I would certainly recommend to family and friends.

Beautiful accommodation in fantastic rural surroundings. For my group it was bliss getting away from the hustle and bustle of a large city. The chill out area was great.

Absolutely Incredible

The Coach House is simply a world class venue. Stayed there with our university friends (all from the same household). We were met by Dave who had great stories, extremely friendly and helpful. The Coach House is stunning inside. The pics dont do it justice at all. Cosy and comfortable. Over the last 7/8 years we have stayed in a venue every year, but nothing has compared to the chill out area. Huge hot tub, wood fired sauna that is simple to get going and gets very hot, and the hut is sensational. Can have a bbq on there as well as have bevvies, stay warm and chat. The owners are so friendly and helpful. What a fantastic weekend. PS. staggered that there could ever be a negative review, so much hard work obviously goes into the venue. Thank you so much

Outstanding is the only word!

Having recently stayed at this holiday let my first thing to say would be: DO NOT PAY ATTENTION TO PREVIOUS NEGATIVE REVIEWS!!!!! Being a hospitality professional with 20 years experience in luxury properties internationally, I was blown away by my visit. I appreciate there are negative reviews posted previously however if these are truthful and not completely exaggerated (as many trip advisor reviews are) then it’s fair to say that Dave and Suzanne have taken points on board. What I experienced during my visit was nothing less than idyllic perfection. The location- FANTASTIC- close to amenities, pure silence at night, animals (alpacas, stunning horses and the friendliest K9s,) a mooch to the bottom of the road and a fantastic almost vertical trek to a wonderful viewpoint with breath taking views for miles! The Accommodation - SIMPLE LUXURY - what do I mean by this.... everything was thought of. Super comfy mattress, all amenities, soft furnishings, crockery, honesty box for towels and robes, log burner in the living room, hammocks in the garden, ginormous snug with fire pit and grill, massive hot tub, barrel sauna, outdoor kitchenette and toilet with a super comfy “goble me up” seating area. It was just fantastic! Perfectly Clean and comfortable! The Hosts- HUGELY WELCOMING AND ACCOMMODATING - there really is not a great deal more to say! They were wonderful and should be extremely proud of what they have achieved! All that’s left to say is do not pay attention to negative comments on here as this really was a holiday let that completely exceeded expectation and as a fussy cow.... that is hard to achieve. I just ask.... please leave me space to return soon!! Thank you Dave and Suzanna

70th birthday

10 of us stayed at the coach house for a week for a 70th birthday. The house was lovely. Plenty of room for everyone and everything you needed. However, on arrival when unpacking we opened the freezer to find all the shelves in the door extremely dirty and sticky, we then found the ovens and cupboards to also be extremely dirty and hadn’t been cleaned well/ at all. Dave the owner was very helpful and apologetic. Although we never met Suzanne who owns it as well. She never greeted us or said goodbye. We didn’t see her the whole week, we found this quite strange and a bit rude. One of the showers also started leaking into the kitchen on the second day. Which again, was rectified by Dave who was great. The hot tub and sauna was lovely, although again, the hot tub was broken as the bubbles didn’t work and we wasn’t made aware of this till the second day where Dave notified us that they will be getting a new hot tub in September. We feel we should of been made aware of this before arriving. The sauna also had leaks which made it very uncomfortable as you kept getting dripped on when it rained. The garden furniture was also rusty and very uncomfortable even with pillows. Although we wasn’t completely happy with our experience it was still a great holiday. The dogs were so lovely and sweet and the closed garden made it dog friendly for our dog which was great. The snug/cozy was the best bit, we spent most nights in there and the lights and quirky signs and posters in there really add character.

Daughters 30th Birthday weekend

Lovely gem of a find. Beautiful, clean spacious house that had everything you needed. Great fun area for the party which we all thoroughly enjoyed. Dave and his wife were great hosts and showed us where everything was. Beauful area for walks and to spend quality time with family and friends

Wonderful Weekend!

What a wonderful weekend we had here at The Coach House. A group of 8 came for a hen weekend and had a fabulous time. The Coach House is a lovely property set in gorgeous countryside. We were pleasantly surprised to see some Alpacas (Diablo and Aspen) on the drive up to the property. Plenty of space for parking available out the front. The property is spacious and welcoming, and again we were surprised that so much was provided... Little touches like dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid which is very thoughtful as other properties we have visited have not provided anything at all! The rooms were all lovely and clean as were the bathrooms. Towels and bedding all provided. Complimentary crocs are provided to walk down to the chill out area and some robes can be rented for a small charge which is a great idea! We had fun and games with the hot tub and sauna area, it is a little tricky to get going but it was well worth it and we spent Saturday in and out of the tub and sauna and then had an amazing BBQ in the hut in the evening. We also loved the animals on the property. Rosie the cat is gorgeous, and Jasper and Dexter the dogs came to see us for cuddles and belly rubs. Dave and Suzanne were on hand to help if we needed anything. We will definitely be back to stay here again!

Fabulous!

Myself and my family (9 of us) recently stayed for Christmas week, we had a great time. The Coach House exceeded all expectations. The house is beautiful, plenty of room, lovely furnishings and utilities, the chill out zone was fantastic. There were plenty of pubs, restaurants nearby, a beautiful waterfall, a dam with a huge lake, castles, horseriding and more nearby which we all took advatantage of along with my dog. At the end of the day the house was so nice to come back to with a feeling that you are well away from the hustle and bustle. We are definitely booking again.

Disappointing!

Arrived last weekend of November for a 3 night stay with 6 adults and 4 children. Upon arriving house was freezing!!!! Pictures make the house look better than it is. During the course of the weekend it became apparent that everything was extremely disappointing. Bathrooms are flushed via a septic tank so there is always a strong smell of drains throughout the property. The house was filthy. Dust in every room. Plates in the kitchen cupboards with stale food still on them. Dirty glasses. Old crisp packets found behind the headboard of one of the beds. General disregard for cleanliness throughout the property. Crocs kindly left for use to walk down to 'chillout' area. My husband put a croc on only to find a dirty wet sock inside! Jacuzzi DOES NOT WORK!!! 8 hours trying to fire it up and we gave up! All in all a brilliant weekend thanks to our friends but an extremely disappointing stay. Would not recommend this property to anyone. Do not waste your money!!!

Brilliant family holiday

Absolutely fantastic family holiday. Beautiful location, with some lovely walks. Accommodation was brilliant, lovely large house with plenty of room for a big family. It was nice to be able to let our children play in the garden whilst we relaxed. It was a brilliant place for the children, they loved playing with the owners children and their dogs. Loved the chill out area! Thank you. Would definitely look to visit again.

Lovely, comfortable and welcoming property

We had an early Christmas family get together at the property, and stayed for a long weekend. I thought the owners were nice and helpful and gave useful advice. The property is in a lovely scenic and peaceful location too. Given the time of year it was very cold, but that didn't deter us from using the hot tub and sauna. Although the property is large, it was lovely and warm. Very clean too. The kitchen was well stocked in terms of plates, cutlery, pots and pans etc. and the fridge freezer was more than ample for our needs. Definitely would visit again.

Fantastic Family pre christmas stay

Stayed at the coach house the first week of december. What a fantastic place. Although house is very large and spacious it is very homely and cosy. All bedrooms are very nice and well equiped. Lovely big kitchen.dining room where we spent a lot of time and plenty of room for everyone. The outdoor chillzone...well what can i say...absolutely great ...Woodfired sauna and hot tub great but the best of all id the 18 seater bbq hut. We spent a few nights in there...had some great bbqs and more than enough room,,,,separate kitchen with glasses, plates and cutlery etc makes it all so much easier .saves having to bring things over from main house...adjacent shower and toilet very useful. Extra little things like a basket full of crocs footwear to walk over to outdoor area and for a very small cost of £2 you can hire a nice bathrobe (honesty box)... We were kept socked up with logs for burner which are very reasonably priced and saves you having to go out to buy themOwners are around but you dont see them unless you need them..We had a small issue but it was sorted out within five minutes. ..Some ovely wa;ks round about and a couple of nice pubs for food..Shropshire about 15 mins drive away is a lovely place to visit...supermarkets and olde worlde shops..A visit to the waterfals is a must. Plenty of leaflets in coachouse with info on places to visit...It snowed quite bad on the morning we left for home...would imagine it would have been magical to have been in the bbq hut toasting marshmallows n drinking hot chocolate with the snow coming down outside...all in all cant rate it high enough and will defo return...

Great value for money, but ..

So, we use Trip Advisor a lot ourselves and always try to keep reviews objective. The positives - - the coach house has been renovated to a high spec. - the rental price for 10 of us was great - the BBQ hut and chill out Zone were well used - there is an honesty box for the robe and towel hire, to drop the money in - the owners were very approachable if needed The Helpful tips- - Read all the instructions before you start doing anything / there are a lot though! - Cover the drain in the wet room - take a torch - don't expect a meet and greet service, the key is in the door and they do leave you to your own devices. - there are lovely walks in the area The not so positive bits (personal thoughts) - The tub and sauna are WoodFired, and for someone like me who loves the smell and sound of a woodburner this all sounds very romantic. The downside is it is very high maintenance- it takes approx 4hours to heat up for use, once it gets going and you have to regularly add wood during this time, and you cannot use it in the mornings as it cools down overnight. Then you run the gauntlet of the water suddenly getting very hot and you have to add cold water to bring it back down - that in itself turned out to be a challenge as the hose was connected to electrical timer, once we worked out all the switches in the hut (again .. read all the instructions fully first!) - the walk from the house to Zone is around the driveway, there was a security light at the rear then another at the gate but you are practically there before it comes on and it is very dark-another sensor light on the corner of the house would help massively- but we improvised and used our phone lights. - the house is in the middle of a stable yard, and the owners property so do not expect isolation - this is referred to in the information I think but just be aware. - they have two beautiful dogs who are very friendly and do join you - the jack Russell on arrival joined me in the car - some of us loved it but some are allergic, so just be prepared. - Flies were an issue - not as many as previous reviews but they were a constant presence. Hopefully for others going later as the weather gets colder this will stop, but farms, horses, etc ... - there was no where to dry towels and wet bathers in the house. There was a tumble dryer outside in the garage though. All in all, our weekend was what we made it, there are some lovely touches here and rental cost good value but we have probably been put off from renting anywhere again with wood fired equipment- purely our choice but somebody in the party could never fully relax as you are always thinking about lighting up, topping up and cleaning out. Thank you to the owners for the lovely home and the facility of the Chill out Zone

Will not be returning!!

Barn conversion and outside areas have clearly been completed to a high specification and there is a good level of cleanliness throughout the property, however, there is a severe fly infestation which only became apparent on our first morning once the heating had turned itself on and the property was quite warm. I was in the room opposite the main bathroom which did have a high concentration of flies that were not only flying around but were on the bed and all over personal belongings. We were also unable to sit and eat comfortably as the kitchen as inundated with flies. The owner sent a child of around 10 years old collect the deposit money to which we refused on several occasions and when owner finally arrived was rude and seemed disinterested in our observations of the flies and other faults by saying she knew all about it. The property could be exceptional if only some time and care was fed back into the property by the owners.

Disappointing

Where the house was lovely and in beautiful surroundings it was ruined by the infestation of flies. They were everywhere, they came out of the shower plug holes and shower head in 2 of the bathrooms. We were unable to eat without being surrounded by flies and definately couldnt leave any food or drink out on tables. The hot tub didnt work properly and was very high maintenance to get it and keep it heated up. It meant we were unable to explore our surroundings. The hot tub wasnt very clean and because it was heated by fire it meant that we all stank of smome comming from it. We werent welcomed to the property and when we had an issue we were unable to get in touch with the owners on any of the 3 numbers we had. We therefore missed out on an evening in the hot tub. A young child was sent to collect a deposit from us for the stay.

Very disappointing

Stayed at The Coach House 13-16 Oct and am sad to say I would never go back or recommend to anyone. We arrived around 4.15pm and within half hour a couple of the party went to get the hot tub going but this proved problematic as they couldn't get the jets going, after the 4 hour wait of the fire burning away underneath it we still had a cold hot tub. We tried to contact the owners for assistance but there was no reply on any number so we left a text message asking for some help, unfortunately we received no reply so this meant we were unable to use the hot tub during our first evening. The following morning around 9.30ish a young boy around 9 or 10yrs old knocked the door saying he believed we'd had problems with the hot tub and 1 would we like him to set it up and 2 could he have the £100 deposit, we asked him to come back a bit later as people were still in bed and give us chance to get the money together. At this point one of the party went out to watch how he got the jets going and it turns out the jets didn't work and the owners explanation for this was "that's why we advertise it as a hot rub rather than a jacuzzi". A while later the young boy turned up again asking for the deposit (even though the owner who I presume to be his mother was only standing round the corner), we told him we'd like to speak to an adult about a couple of things before we paid the deposit. When she arrived she abruptly pointed out that we should have paid the deposit on arrival, we had to point out to her that as there is more than a couple of properties on the site 1 we didn't know which property the owners lived at, 2 had they answered the phone to us or maybe greeted us on arrival then we could have paid the deposit. There was dog poo on the path to the front door, the house was absolutely full of flies (and not just a few), the hot tub was dirty with slimey walls and some sort of worm living in there, crusty bogies stuck all over the arm of one of the sofas and a chill out area that was such constant work to keep the fire going that you didn't stand a chance of going out for the day then coming back to use the hot tub. I came home smelling like I'd been round a campfire and this constant smell and smoke made the area rather unpleasant, not to mention how slippy the footing was when it had rained. All in all it was a very disappointing experience as far as the property goes and I would advise they buy another industrial fly killing machine like the one they have in the kitchen. Such a shame as the house itself is a great space and didn't feel at all cramped with 9 of us in there, it just needs some care and attention and maybe an electric hot tub/jacuzzi.

Could not have had a better time, fantastic

We stayed for a week for my wife's birthday with the family, 10 adults in all. The place was even better than we expected. The chill out area is brilliant, we used the sauna and superb jacuzzi hot tub every day, and used the BBQ hut for three BBQ's....amazing. The BBQ hut has a sound bar as well, so we could blue tooth music from phones and the iPads...bonus.... The lounge is lovely and spacious, and the table in the kitchen sat us all with room to spare for the birthday meal... The bedrooms are beAutifully decked out, really tasteful. The owners are there if you need them, but you wouldn't know they were there and left us all to enjoy ourselves. It was the best week we have ever had as a family, would absolutely recommend the place.

Peace and Tranquility

Three families shard a wonderful weekend at the end of April 2017 to celebrate a 40th birthday. The children (4) are aged 7 and 10 and all fully enjoyed the chill out area as well as the local countryside of course. The owners were exceptionally helpful both before our arrival and during our stay - helping us get birthday cakes and candles etc for the occasion. The wood burning stoves in the hot tub and sauna were easy to get going and within a couple of hours both delivered sensational heat and provided hours of relaxation for adults and children alike. The Kota hut with integrated BBQ station was just lovely and cooked our food to perfection. There were plenty of toys and games for the children in the main house so we needn't have taken our own 🙂 We had a food delivery by Waitrose just 20 minutes after our arrival so everything just worked well for us. Overall we had a fantastic weekend and would love to return sometime to take in more of the beautiful countryside right on the doorstep of the Coach House - if only the kids would entertain the walking....

Hot tub delight

5 adults and 3 children stayed here for a mid week break over Easter for a family celebration. I was apprehensive after the lack of reviews but need not have worried. The owner David welcomed us upon arrival (3pm) and advised us to make our selves at home. There was plenty of room for all of us, a well equipped kitchen, freshly made beds with towels in each bedroom. Stair gates, cot, ironing board....home from home really. We had some lovely evenings in together playing games and catching up but the main attraction for us was the amazing hot tub, sauna and BBQ hut. The hot tub is heated with the logs provided but takes up to 4 hours to reach a comfortable temperature. You can connect and play music from out here using Bluetooth and it's totally self contained so no need to nip back to the house for glasses, cutlery or even use the toilet. We were lucky with the weather so we spent lots of time outdoors. The surrounding area is very picturesque and it has a long drive way so secure and private with no one overlooking. We ate in the local pub a 5 minute drive away called the Lime Kiln - recommended. The only negative for some was that the wifi is non existent. Not a major issue but it really shouldn't be offered if it cannot be provided. Thank you Suzanne and David, we would love to stay again in the future.

Great place for friends to catch up

We stayed at the coach house recently. There were 5 couples and two babies. The space was just enough so we wern't treading over each other. The fridge/freezer and pantry was a good size for all our food. It didn't matter there was only one TV as we were too busy catching up with friends, playing board games or reading. The bbq hut, hot tub and sauna was just amazing, this is where we spent most of our time; Drinks, roasting marshmallows and bbq food with music, we couldn't ask for much more! The house isn't overlooked and there's plenty of parking. The coach house is local to small towns and tourist attractions. However, the house would benefit with a downstairs toilet, the wifi connection was very poor, we had to pay extra for towels and robes but some of us brought our own. There was an issue over giant flies coming in the main bathroom but the owner soon visited and sorted the problem (he taped over the air vent with sellotape).

A property of two halves upstairs accommodation very nice but let down by ground floor and courtyard.

Overall this property was very disappointing. The downstairs rooms are very dismal, especially the kitchen and the downstairs bedroom and wet room which desperately needs refurbishment. There is only one TV in the property which is poor for 10 people especially if this covers a wide age group. The outside space is good for parking but there is no garden to speak of. There is a very small grassed area which slopes down onto the gravel, the back of this area drops away into woodland and there is a metal frame which has been discarded and left going rusty. There is also a garage to the side of the accommodation which houses the dryer but also has discarded outside furniture and step ladders which again is not safe for children as there is no door to close it off.
