To the rear of the property there is a seating area perfect to sit with a drink watching the traditional rare breed Hardwick sheep on the lake district fells while you ooze in the natural ambiance all around you. Make the most of the glorious scenery and explore the area on foot or by bike, there are some fabulous routes to take right on the doorstep such as the famous Hodge Close and Cathedral Quarry where you can stop off for a drink at the Three Shires Pub in Little Langdale. Tarn Hows is a lovely circular walk to be taken at whatever pace you fancy, with ever-changing views season-to-season and spots for picnicking with your family and friends. Coniston is a charming village close by with traditional pubs and a few handy shops, dominated by The Old Man of Coniston, which rises dramatically behind stone-built houses. Just WOW!!

We loved staying at this beautiful remote cottage. The scenery was amazing and the cottage is clean and very well equipped. I visited with my daughter, her partner and my 6 year old grandson. It was great being next door to a working sheep farm. Loved listening to the sheep and watching the farmer going about his day.We were all enthralled. The facilities at the cottage were perfect. The hot tub was a great way to relax in the evenings. We loved it so much my daughter has booked for us again next summer (I hadn't even finished unpacking!) We all cannot wait to return and we never wanted to leave. On returning home to the everyday hustle and bustle it made the visit even more special. If you're looking for a relaxing break in stunning surroundings and some lovely local walks, this is the place to go. Counting down the days until our return. 5*

Such a gem of a place!

We all totally fell in love with this place. It felt like we were in the middle of nowhere and was just what we needed to switch off from city life and relax. The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed. As it is a working farm, the cottage was surrounded by sheep and we loved listening to them being vocal each evening. The hot tub was a real treat after a long walk. There were some beautiful walks straight from the door step. We were so sad to leave and would not hesitate to recommend this beautiful place

Stunning views, fabulous walks

A superbly set up cottage, with a wood burning fire and hot tub. Very well furnished. Set in a remote valley with stunning views and with walks all around, some of which Beatrix potter used to do. Close to lake Coniston, and amenities. You can do some wonderful walks right from the cottage, the views are amazing, you will need your camera and yes it loads. The hot tub is easy to use and very welcome after a days walking, along with a G&T. We had our shopping dropped of by Sainsbury’s as they deliver to here. Some of the local pubs allow dogs in and they have a wide selection of food of which is very nice and reasonably priced. This cottage does not have a DVD player but has free sat, only problem we found is that it is very spotty, we took an amazon fire stick so had plenty to watch on a night. You can but fire wood for fire from farmer £5, we used to most nights as it gave a real homely feel. The kitchen is well set up with everything you will need, and it has a dish washer. Lake Coniston you can walk to if you are feeling adventurous but a bit far for the less mobile or elderly. All in all a wonderful place to holiday, stunning views and remote, will definitely look to book again.

Great cottage in a valley with lovely views

We stayed at Tilberthwaite farm in January and couldn't fault the cottage. It had everything we needed, the owners were friendly and the cottage was warm and cosy. Nicely decorated with comfy bed and sofas. Having the hot tub was fantastic even in January! Looks out onto the hills and sheep, and at night the stars were incredible. Perfect for a couple or a couple with two kids (there was a stair gate at the top and a door at the bottom). Bonus that it was a dog friendly cottage and great walking on the doorstep.
