Poll Results – When Booking A UK Break, How Important Is It That Your Accommodation Has A Hot Tub?

97% of people who took part in our poll said having a hot tub at your lodge or cottage is either “very important”, “pretty important” or is a “nice luxury”!

That’s the main takeaway point – now to take a look at why we asked this question and the results in more detail.

Finding out about you, our site visitors is important to us for a number of reasons. It’s interesting to know what ticks your boxes and the importance placed on certain aspects of a break away. What better way to try and uncover some opinions and gauge feelings on certain aspects of holidaying in self catering accommodation than running some polls and asking you directly?

Our first poll asked the following:
When booking a UK break, how important is it that your accommodation has a hot tub?

The reasoning behind this question was to gain insight into how much value was placed on having a hot tub at your holiday accommodation. The question was open to all our site visitors and it didn’t matter whether you had previously been on a hot tub break before or not – merely we wanted to find out the importance the inclusion of a hot tub.

The poll ran for just over 1 and a half months during spring 2012. These are the full details of the poll setup.

– Start date: 15:35 on the 26th of March 2012
– Finish date: 13:52 on the 11th of May 2012

The poll results – shows our visitors really value a hot tub at their lodge, cabin or cottage

Headlines are:

57% polled chose answer A. The proved to be the most popular option and was voted for 116 times taking the majority of votes.
– Less than half of one percent of voters selected option E and expressed that when booking a holiday home a hot tub isn’t something they look for when booking up.
97% of voters selected either A, B or C showing that a hot tub is very important, pretty important or a nice luxury.

What this means:

The poll was used to see sentiment of our site visitors rather than to be used to conclude how important having a hot tub on your romantic weekend break or a family staycation – so we don’t want to draw too many conclusions.

However, saying that, the results of this poll shows clearly that visitors to this site really value having a hot tub at their holiday let.

If you’ve yet to book your first hot tub holiday, you now know that a lot of people have the same holiday idea as you and place a high importance on the accommodation including the use of a hot tub. For the owners and business people involved with letting out holiday homes it gives some indication that to attract more people and booking, perhaps it’s time to consider getting a hot tub installed if you haven’t done so already?

The results of the poll did come as bit of a shock to us. Not that we thought you, our visitors wouldn’t vote for options A, B and C – after all this is a site dedicated to helping people find breaks with hot tubs. The surprise for us came by the amount of votes answer A received.

Option A was wrote, on purpose, to be very strongly in favour “for” having a hot tub. It also shows if a holiday let was lacking the feature of a hot tub, then these voters wouldn’t be interested in staying there, irrespective of where the let was located or the other facilities and features which the property may boast – quite a statement. So for 57% to vote this way is a clear statement amongst the visitors who took part in the poll – perhaps many of the voters have experienced the luxury of enjoying time spent in the hot, bubbling water of an hot tub and have experienced some of the suspected benefits.
